I'm looking to purchase a buck decoy for my Kansas hunt, I don't want to spend 700.00 dollars on a Dan Smith decoy, so what is another option? Many thanks!

My carrylite gets a lot of action...I have a few over the years as they don't take a beating real well...had two destroyed in the great state of KS...I agree with hntnskn if you can find a decent cheap 3d foam target...add a white feather boa for a tail and to the ears you're in good shape...easy to transport, super quiet and they will take a beating...trust me I've seen it with my own eyes...
I agree the flambeau boss is real looking, but its awkward, loud and if the first buck to show up is a 130" testosterone infused 10-point the flambeau is going down...maybe never to rise again, especially on that hunt...

I've owned several, including the Flambeau boss buck and boss babe, Primos Scar, Carry-Lite EZ-Buck Deer Decoy, and this blow up thing I got at Cabelas (it drew in a 13 pointer the very 1st time out, but I returned it to Cabelas WHICH may have been a mistake!). This thing was ugly, but it worked.

While I didn't hunt with it, I was about to purchase the Rinehart Doloma Series Buck Decoy last year, hoping that it would lighten AND tighten up my load a bit. Turns out I wasn't to impressed with that at all. MIGHT work, but in the store I just wasn't feeling it with the Rinehart.
The Flambeau boss buck and boss babe are the worst of the entire bunch, by far. They are hard to even get to stand up.
The Primos Scar is the only full size decoy that I've kept for any amount of time. It has a rubber coating on it that keeps it from being noisy while hauling and setting up, which is nice. The legs go on super easy, the head moves with the slightest wind.
I do own several of the Montana 2D decoys, and I've killed over them more then once now. Don't be put off by them, as you can carry them with you on every hunt and use them. They keep me using decoys more then not. Often I'll use my Primos Scar with 2-4 of my Montana decoys. Iced a few deer last year.

I have only ever hunted with the scar face decoy and have had wonderful results. Like many others have said the 3D decoys are definitely a little noisy to set up, but I know for a fact that my Primos scar face has drawn in and given opportunities at deer than I would of had without him. The thing I like most about the scarface is the head and neck and the tail swivel in the wind which gives the deer confidence that its not just some funny looking piece of plastic out there.

I like mine. Little bit of wind gives it some movement because it pivots on the ground stake. Not too heavy, breaks down well for transport, the ears are pinned back in an aggressive manner. Because it’s made of the Rinehart foam, it’s also very quiet during transport as well as when it’s deployed. The only thing I don’t like is that you have to be careful when attaching the legs to the body because the foam can crack if you try to force it. For the money, I think it’s a good purchase and would buy it again if I had to.

I love my primos scar face, it's not nearly as bulky as the boss buck. Don't get anything that absorbs scent! True the harder plastic is louder, but the foam type (similar to 3D targets) are impossible to get scent free. I hated the old one I used, if the buck was a shooter, I had to be shooting before he got downwind.

I sold off my Boss Babe today. THING was to much to haul around, and the legs were a royal pain to install. HOPING the Doloma is light years better!
