Guys,

Im looking to get a jet sled for christmas. My dad has the xl and i used that to drag a deer this this year and it was brutal. Only a fawn and i dragged the deer old school up the hill and went back for the sled and gear. Sled alone weighs 32lbs. Im looking at either the jetsled jr, 6lbs, 43x21x8 ir the jet sled 1, 54x25x10 and 11.5lbs. Which do you think is better. Im not certain i can fit a deer in 43 inches long.

I have a Jr. and what I believe is the standard size. IMO the Jr. is too small for hauling deer. There's just too much deer hanging out of the sled to catch on brush and tip the sled. The larger sized sled also handles going over small logs better without losing cargo or tipping on its side.

Now that you know what it takes, start going to the gym and do leg presses and if they have a lead sled start using it to get the back/should and leg muscles built up so you can drag that booner out with ease next year.

I use a linsmans belt that I attach to the sled so I am pulliing with my waist and arms at same time

Thanks guys for the advice. I think ill go with the 54 inch model, seems like that will hold a deer much better for only 5 additional lbs. I dont like fighting deer to stay in. Used to use one of thode sleds that had criss crossed ropes all the way down and looks like a flimsy snow sled. That thing tipped over all the time and required a lot of tie downs to hold a deer and no gear.

I know I'll get flack for this...

But, you've all gotten soft.

If you can't carry it out or drag it out, stay home.
And if you drag half of your house into the woods to hunt, then make two trips.
Eventually you'll figure it out, or keep dragging alot of krap.

I laughed at the 2 wheeled carts when they came out in the 80s/ 90's. And it's only gotten worse.

What next? Call Uber?

Depends. Some terrain near where I hunt gets steep and rocky, and wheels could get stuck or still bottom out anyways. Haven't used the sled I just bought this year but it can be used for other things as well. Read an article from a guy who uses his for long camping trips to make hygiene and laundry easier.

I just got a jet sled this season. Haven’t hauled a deer out yet but another benefit is that it helps keep the bed of my truck organized. Not sure why anyone would want to make dragging a deer out more difficult for them.

Work harder not smarter
Fixed it for you.

I like the Hawk Crawler Deer cart for getting deer out, I use my small Jet Sled for ice fishing. I shot this buck last year in the thickest/nastiest area and then it died down a steep ravine. Even with the crawler cart, once I got to some level ground, had to take a breather, of course helped arrived while I was sucking wind, and he took the picture of the tree holding me up, we laugh every time we see this picture. It was not easy for sure. I'd still be dragging if not for the cart and yes, I don't miss many meals and didn't get that way eating hummus.

Don't get the Jr. I've dragged deer over a mile out of public with the regular jet sled. Drug a very large buck out this year 1/2 mile+. And give me a jet sled ANY day over a damn tippy deer cart with sticks getting in spokes and falling going over logs. Use it all the time for hauling firewood. Makes loading deer into back of truck a breeze too. Great sled for snow sledding too. Fun watching my Lab drag it back up the hill for the kids too!
