Does anyone have any recommendations for field points? Or conversely, anything you do NOT recommend? It could be a maker or a type...

Thanks for your information.

I've used many brands/designs over the years. I like bullet shaped points better than field tips (just me maybe). I've recently had great luck with some stainless steel ones I found on Amazon that had 2 O-rings to keep them tight. They were quite inexpensive. I can't remember which Chinese brand they were, but there are many similar ones with various brand names. A lot of well-known brand target points are now made in China. You can also get good target points cheap at Wal-Mart, especially when they're on clearance sales.

Note: I have no problem with Chinese target points, but I won't use any Chinese made broadheads. I like trusted USA made steel for hunting.

There has been several Brands over my 29 years in Archery. What has yet to be mention is Using the Same Diameter Size as Your Arrow Is. They will Pull Out Easier oversized FP's will be harder to get out and do more damage to your Bag Target. As long as they are the Correct Weight they all will do the JOB! Buying into needing a Specific Brand is just more Hype. Saunders was a well brand Brand yet that has yet to be Mentioned neither has Bohning. As long as they are a Known Brand It really does not Matter but for the Costs and Maybe If they Are Made in the USA. As Not All Are!

Hi,

if your just wingin' arrows in the back yard, most any point

that fits arrow diameter will be just fine. But ...

if your doing any kind of target that requires a level of accuracy.

my OCD kicks in, an i have to do a better point ... most of my

arrows are Gold Tip. so i do GT points. i also have found some

Victory points that i like. for 3D & spot i like a long tapered

glue in bullet point. both brands also can do screw in fact weights.

if your doin 3D with a buddy or two... GT ez pull will work well. but if

your shooting in a larger group, i like a bullet point. i can dive right in.

with smaller glance out.

to help with arrow removal from 3D target. especially new or cold targets.

i carry a 1" square of ivory soap...

before each shot, rub on about 2" inches of point end.

for my glue in points i like a cool melt. for screw in, you really don't need

an O-ring. just tweak lightly with pliers.

i try to do certain size arrows so i don't need special size components.

that said... i have a micro dia. - a large dia. & what i consider a standard

diameter ( .245/.246) cuz components are easy & cheap to find.

hope you find this helpful ...

just my 2 cents.

Ive been using the easton match points myself. Not cheap but they work well. Cant say I see any real benefit over the other styles on the market though. If there was a difference Im not good enough to notice it 🤣😂 Some points claim to stop in targets better than others so you don’t over penetrate. Through the bag or foam block

I don’t think that for backyard practice out to about 50 yards I have much to add to what everyone else has already commented. I will give this though. How concentric the threads and shoulder are to the point head itself is important for tuning. Mass produced points will have a little variation coming off a machine. You will sometimes notice that in the same package of 100 pieces that some are more concentric or centered around the inserts when tightened down. With a fletched arrow it’s not as noticeable, but when paper tuning or probably bare shaft grouping you will see a difference. Basically the heavier side or side that isn’t flush will create a weaker static reaction to that portion of the arrow. Giving you an inconsistent tune reading.
Glue in target point options are nice to have for fine tuning but I understand that is not always an option. They’re definitely more consistent. I don’t personally pay for the higher end points, but I would think/hope they are of better quality and lessen or eliminate the issue.

I actually find the bottom one pulls out easier from my Rhino 18-1 but they are both easy

Can get them in Lancaster etc in the USA
