Actually.....the school of thought is the opposite of what you are witnessing. Many of the longer range shooters prefer a slightly weaker spine because they group tighter at longer ranges.Right now I got a weak arrow spine. Is that what is affecting my long shots? im great till about 30yds and after that im not as accurate. What does a stiff arrow spine do? Thanks
If you can get your hands on the Easton Tuning guide....(your shop should have one) check Eastons web. This is explained in their guide as well.
In a nutshell.....stiffer arrows can group good close but at longer range open up quite a bit. Weaker arrows are more open at close ranges and tighten up at longer ranges.
Optimal spine is a tradeoff where you achieve desirable results at both ranges.
Eastons tuning guide even has some pictorials of the group cone that explains this in better detail.
