I looking for a sitka pant in subalpine . I would use this in mid Aug in temps up to 90 also for elk hunting in September 35-70 degrees. I don't know much about sitka Big game line and there is not any dealer's that stock this stuff. I understand they make pants for every condition , But i need one that would do both. I thinking the apex pant because it does have dwr where the ascent does not . how quiet are these? is there a better choice? other options?

If you’re worried about water repellency you need to check out the new Kuiu hybrids. They have waterproof sections in them. Much like the Sitka timberline. However I think one of the Kuiu pants is lighter than the timberline and one is the same weight.

For the do all Sitka pant, the mountain pant is going to fall between the ascent and the timberline.

The old ascents may, and I stress may get you down as cold as you’re talking. The new style is way too thin for those lower temps.

The mountain pants or timberlines would be my choice. Depends on how hot you run. But check out the new Kuiu’a before you make a final call.

In have the mountain pants and they are awesome. I think they will be fine for up to 80 or so if wearing nothing underneath. You can blow through them pretty easy. I also will there scouting they other weekend with just then Merino underneath and was good in the upper 30 to mid 40s. I was hoping though. And they were tough as nails going through IL wood. Not a mark I can find after thorns and all.
If I was trying to do 90 I don't think anything would work or would I hunt ;)
I am considering the acsent shirt though for early season...

Side note. I have the Mnt pants, jacket and traverse hoody. I'm definitely good to go until the leaves fall off with light to mid or heavy Merino bases. And freaking comfortable. The Mnt jacket over the hoddy makes it wind proof and water resistant.

I would go with the Apex pants. I had the ascents and did love them, but I lost quite a bit of weight so I got rid of them. Replaced with the apex pants and was very happy. A hair thicker material but still plenty cool. I wore them elk hunting for a week and though most of October stand hunting. They are quieter than the ascent also

Ascent pants are great and lightweight, you can wear thermals underneath them for when it gets colder and have a wider range of temperatures to wear them in. I have both the ascent and the mountain pants and the mountain pants are a little hot when its 70 out and the ascent pants start getting cold around 60. But thats just been my experience! My buddy just war the ascent pants with a lightweight thermal last weekend in Nebraska and it was 30-40 out!

well I was able to look at the ascents today at a dealer, but i don't think there what I looking for.I found them to be noisy . I need something quiet for the close range stalks i do. They dint have the the apex to look at. I wondering how the apex thickness is. I have the equinox pants in EVII would the apex be thinner than them ? or thicker?
