If you dont belong to your states bowhunting organization why not? It should be required like a license .I belong to the U.B.P., SCI, and the Izaack Walton league. What clubs do you guy's belong to?

One group constantly pushed one side, another group pushed the other, and they always fought over the one topic. With everything else out there to focus on, that was the topic of the majority of their publications and their rendezvous.
Never again...
I belong to several other organizations but Michigan Bowhunters is one that I decided I was no longer in agreement with. Sorry if you thought I was bashing all orinizations.Meleagris1 said:I think with any organization you have to look at the larger picture. I am a member of the NRA. DO I agree with all their views? NO!! But I am a member and I do support them because they oppose the people who want to take away my rights to do what I love, that is hunt and participate in the shooting sports.
Now, I am a member and County representative for New York Bowhunters, INC. Do I agree with all their views? NO!! As I mentioned above, there are always some internal debates going on that I don't agree with, like the never ending crossbow debate here in NY, etc. However, myself and other representatives and officers of this organization are out there all the time working to support bowhunters and bowhunter's rights. We are at the state meetings, we call the papers, we call our congressman and women, we organize youth programs and teach bowhunter safety. We are doing what is needed to be done to protect our sport, so that our children can continue to do what we love so much.
Let me tell you, and I can probably speak for most state bowhunting organizations here, New York Bowhunters is the ONLY organization in NY that stands up for bowhutners. If you are not supporting your local and state organizations because of differences in opinions you have on certain issues, or becasue you dislike certain members etc, then you should either JOIN and help to change people's minds, or you should start your own organization and work to protect the sport. Its easy to sit back and complain. Thankfully, I work with dedicated bowhunters every day, people who make tremendous personal sacrifices to help our sport. These men and women are able to see the forest through the trees, and they know what has to be done to protect the sport we love.
Absolutely not, just my thoughts, I wasn't directing my comments at anyone in particular.old Graybeard said:I belong to several other organizations but Michigan Bowhunters is one that I decided I was no longer in agreement with. Sorry if you thought I was bashing all orinizations.
Great point. Some of these guys are being very close minded. It is terrible that so many of these hunting organizations are fighting for the right to hunt only to be ingnored by the majority of hunters.Meleagris1 said:I think with any organization you have to look at the larger picture. A LAW that requires a bowhunter to belong to a club?? The LAST thing the sport needs is another law. I belong to NO clubs, no excuses. Maybe I should.............but I don't as of today. I'd sooner quit hunting than support anybody that would advocate a law requiring a person to belong to an organization in order to obtain a license.WATERFOWLER said:If you dont belong to your states bowhunting organization why not? Your exactly right we don't need another law governing our hunting. Last time I checked this is a free country and if you decide to join a club then go for it but, you don't have to try and shove it down others throats that they HAVE join just because you did or because you want them to. I understand the reason you feel the way you do or why you posted the subject but, you need to let other decide for themselves instead of forcing something like that onto others. Hope you know where I'm coming from as well.pizzle said:A LAW that requires a bowhunter to belong to a club?? The LAST thing the sport needs is another law. I belong to NO clubs, no excuses.
