RX8U checks all the boxes. The early 2000’s ultra line was pretty great too.

I have the RX9 now but my favorites in the past has been the RX7 and the RX4. Looking forward to what they come out with in November.

I have three currently

2014 carbon spyder 34. Still my favorite if all time. On my third set of strings and had to finish it :)

2020 hyperforce. Very underrated bow. Hunting with this currently and can pull more weight on this bow comfortably than I can on the spyder.

just picked up a AX2-32. Still setting this up and have not fired an arrow but the draw and hold feels like my 2012 elite answer I sold a while back so the jury is still out.

Hey, you were inquiring about my ax2 29, just wanted to offer you my input in this context. It’s a solid little bow and I greatly prefer it over the ventum and vtm I had before (both of those were the longer versions too). I’ve been used to around a 33” ata bow and the ax2 was the first shorter bow I’ve had in years. There were some frustrations early on (hence me trying to sell), but those were user error/setup issues (3rd axis on my sight). After fixing that I’ve been quite happy with it. The speed/performance at my 28” dl is hard to ignore (490 grain arrow was 274 fps at 69.5 pounds on the shop chrono).

You mentioned having the lift-I actually went with the lift x 33 thinking I wanted that longer riser/ata again. I slightly prefer shooting the lift, it feels and holds a little steadier for me BUT at least out to 40 yards it’s really a wash for accuracy in my hands. The ax2 continues to surprise me with how accurate and forgiving it is for its specs. I can’t shake the feeling that a longer bow would be “better”, but I seriously doubt i’m good enough to appreciate any significant difference. I need to get out and do some longer range testing, like 60+ yards.
Thank you for the write up!! I've got a buddy of mine in Ohio who will probably trade me his ax2 29 for my lift. The strings just nicked but I'll probably throw some gas strings on it

Absolutely loving my VTM 34 so far. It holds great and is super dead in the hand. Ive taken 2 animals with it so far in my first season hunting with it. Its going to be my main bow for a long time.

Do you feel like the at southeast hunting distance I'd doubt to see any accuracy improvement vs being smaller being better for saddle hunting?

insert disclaimer about needing to shoot bows and see for yourself
I can’t fairly say re:saddle hunting since I’ve never tried that. I feel like at your hunting distances the accuracy “penalty” of the shorter bow would be minimal. Each of us has to decide on what’s acceptable/what level of precision and we demand for our pursuits. Personally, if a certain setup produces smaller, more consistent groups that’s what I’ll take, even if it’s only like 1” or so at 40 so long as it remains practical.

I actually just shot both bows over my lunch break at 40 yards. Both grouped within the vitals of a deer.

I had a Vtm 31, sold it for a lift went back to an AX2 and then made the mistake of just wanting to tinker. To me nothing holds better than a Hoyt.

Do you guys prefer the Aluminum lines or the carbons? Is the new rx9 that much better than the rx8s?

TIA!
All of em. I never owned one but want to 😎

It is a toss up between the Carbon Spyder Turbo and the RX7 Ultra. Yes, two different experiences but I love them both and wish I still had my Carbon Spyder Turbo.

I currently shoot a RX8 but the Carbon Spyder Turbo has been my favorite and still own it. I’ve been a Hoyt guy since 1994.
I owned a Hoyt Mystic back in the 90s. Loud as hell but very accurate.

Hoyt axius ultra. That was the last year of the cam and a half so they had that thing dialed in.
I’ve owned the ventum, ventum pro, highline, vtm, 8 ultra.
the axius ultra is still my favorite. Best grip, balance and tuning of them all.
I agree, I had the Axius Alpha and the Axius Ultra. Both were great shooting bows but I'm partial towards 32-36" ATA bows.

The Axius Ultra with UV grip was a tack driver for me on the 3D range. It's one of those bows I wish I still had.

Love Hoyt and my Ruckus JR.

Carbon Spyder Turbo for me. I can't believe how nice it shoots. I picked one up last year on here for one of my boys and ended up keeping it for myself. lol! I also have a Ventum 30....it holds nice but it seems really finicky to tune.

I want a Hoyt Carbon Spyder, always been a wish list bow for me. I think, however, my favorite bow I’ve owned is my Alpha X 33

My problem with Hoyts is I can’t seem to get rid of them, so I will end up with a lots of bows and love them all.
Good luck
