In my area, the deer usually have all dropped by mid March. I just keep a check on cams and when all the bucks that i see regularly have dropped. Then i'll get to looking. I walk open areas first. Then hit thickets.

I agree with Brian.
I usually start actively hitting the woods in February. It seems March is the time when squirrels really start gnawing on antlers around my area.
Last year I did find a pretty decent matched set mid March that had dried spots of blood on the main beams.
