I was told oct 1st by a Dec officer but online they say in their manual that its the 15th???
which is it?

It could be as early as Oct 1 for the 2012-2013 season. It's all spelled out in the NY 5 year plan.

I really wish they wouldn't do that,still too warm in upstate NY in early Oct.Should tack it on to the end of archery season,then extend gun season a little(very little):behindsof:boink::bolt:
