Anyone seen any scientific studies on if there are really any performance differences between slicktricks? I saw one guy on youtube showed a nearly 30% penetration increase from magnum to viper trick in ballistic gel. But thats hardly scientific and was only one shot.
I went out tonight and shot them into a broadhead target to see myself. A slicktrick magnum and a viper trick. 20-60 yards couple shots each yardage. I could not tell a difference. The vipertrick made 12 passes through a foam blackhole target. After I returned home It had an exceeding result on my standardized broadhead sharpness test. A single sheet of fine rolling paper held taught as pictured, the broadhead cleanly slicing through it when gently pressed to it with the arrow perpendicular to the paper. I will still touch it up before it goes back into the hunting rotation.
I have a picture of my last 60 yard group. Green knock field point, red knock viper trick.
This other photo is a magnum, I used the 50 yard pin first shot at 60 and sent it into some heavy steel grating used on the target stand. It made a notable cut on the steel, and slid 9" through the wood against the steel. One blade survived it all and is still tight due to the blades breaking just outside of the ferrule keeping the locking system intact. Really shows how much of a winner slicktrick is.
