Which vanes would you recomend for a whisker biscuit? I was wondering because i have heard of some people having vanes ripped up while others have never had that problem and i figured it probably had to do with the differant vanes they were using. Let me know what you think would work best. Thanks

I use Blazers with no problems. There is another stiff one out now, I think it is called a Savage? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I think any stiff vane will be ok. Where people get vanes torn up by the Biscuit, is when they try to use really soft, flexible vanes.

Flex Fletch

I've used Flex Fletch vanes with my WB from the beginning with ZERO problems. Flex Fletch vanes have a very smooth and slick surface which works well with this rest.

I believe most of the problems were with pre-made arrows. Many times, they do not put a dab of glue on the leading tip of the vane and it catches on the WB bristles. If you fletch yourself, or buy pre-fletched arrows I would HIGHLY recommend you add this step.

Good Luck!

I've tried Flex fletch, AAE and Vanetecs.

After hundreds of shots the Vanetecs have not wrinkled/rippled at all.

Whisker Biscuit vs. Fletching

Those biscuits sure can be tough on vanes! I used a biscuit for a few seasons with feathers and got good results. The feathers just lay down as they pass thru the bristles. According to others Blazer vanes hold up well. The new Savage vane by Duravanes definitely fit the bill for use with a Whisker Biscuit; they are super-tough and have excellent memory. Before recommending them to customers I did my best the demolish the sample Norway sent me; I twisted and tugged and they resumed their shape every time. One vane I would steer clear of are NAP QuikSpins; they are very susceptible to distortion. I'm not sure how much the rippling in the vanes really affect flight but the look of it bugs me. If you get a chance, try some feathers and let me know what sort of results you get. Gateway or Trueflight one is making 2.5" shield cut feathers this year -- very pretty!

I'll admit to being an uptight, nit-picker -- everything must be JUST SO. JUST SO I can go and try something new! Keeps it fun.

I've put Vanetecs and Blazers on my wifes arrows and both work well. I like the Vanetecs better than the Blazers. Just my opinion.

AAE Speed Flyte, Blazers or VaneTec.

I just changed arrows and have VaneTec on them. I only have a couple hundred shots on them but I can see no sign of any kind of wear, I'm sure that they are going to hold up well.

The tuning of a Whisker Biscuit also has a lot to do with vane durability and would sugest going to the CAP web site for some tips.

Here's a pic of my GTs with VaneTec vanes:
