Whisker Biscuit vs. Drop Away Rests

I just started shooting a compound bow about a month ago, and I'm still using the whisker biscuit arrow rest that it came with. I've read a lot that drop away rests can make a big improvement in accuracy, but I've also read that the reliability of WB's can outweigh the slight accuracy disadvantage.

Can anyone give their experiences using both types of arrow rests? Any recommendations for good drop away rests would be greatly appreciated too. Thanks!

Bowhunting out to fifty yards: stick with your WB. You will NEVER see an accuracy advantage with the drop away for 90% of your shooting, and you will be about $100 happier because you didnt have to buy another piece of hardware that your dealer has to set up and maintain for you. I removed my drop away at the beginning of this years deer season and have taken seven deer with the WB.

I have a 2012 quest primal with a limbdriver on it, I have used either limbdriver or trophy taker for the last 20 years maybe? I also have a 2014 PSE DNA that I put a truglo biscuit on...... gotta say, pleased with the biscuit, no plans on changing it anytime soon...... works great and zero accuracy issues

I actually really like the Truglo Biscuit that PSE has been putting in the new 2020 packages... you have better vertical adjustment because you can rotate it and square it. It reminds me of the original Whisker Biscuit mounts. The Quick Shot mount is a joke when it comes to vertical adjustment.

Whisker biscuit is fine unless you are shooting a hoyt. Trust me, you won't get good results with a WB on a hoyt because they are designed to launch the arrow on a slight downward trajectory which will bounce the tail end of the arrow off the bottom of the WB. Not sure if any other hybrid cam bows are like this but I know hoyts are.

A lot of hybrids are like this as it's the typical vertical nock trajectory, since the lower cam will generate a little more energy than the top. Single cams do this also, and the easiest solution is to run your d-loop/nocking point a little high (mine is about 1/8" up). You may also want the top cam stop to hit slightly early when syncing the cams.

I will cherish the day when hybrid cams are ancient tech, but I hope single cams don't disappear because I like their simplicity. Unfortunately it's looking the other way around, there's very few single cams left on the market.

I have both and ive killed w/ both. ive never shot a deer farther than 40yds. I love both rests but for simplicity, reliability, the WB is #1. I killed all my animals this yr w/ the QAD HDX. elk @ 25yds, doe #1 @21 yds, doe #2 @ 6yds, buck @ 15yds. ive use the Wb almost exclusively until this yr and killed batches of deer a couple of antelope and a bear w/ a Wb. ive put a biscuit back on one of my bows for next yr. ive shot quite a few 3d shoots w/ the WB also and have won a few things. now don't get me wrong im no pro shooter but for most of us a biscuit is a very good arrow rest. its not how far anyway its how close. but heres the deal …. shoot what ya want. some folks should read curt wells article in the latest issue of bowhunter mag

I like a drop away (NAP Apache), and have been using one for 6 years, although I started out with a WB.'
I like shooting with FOBs, so I'll stick with a drop away.
My wife started out with a WB on her bow, and I've offered to "upgrade" her rest, but she say's "No way, I'm still happy with what I'm using.
You really can't go wrong, no matter which way you go.

For hunting a whisker biscuit. Reliable, quiet, and no arrow bounce. Accuracy is great for hunting kill shots. Now for target or 3D I prefer a blade or drop away. I'm not aiming at vitals. I'm aiming at dime size or quarter size scoring rings.

It seems that everyone doesn't notice an accuracy difference with a WB at around 40 yards or less. I feel like after I release the arrow, the small movements of my bow arm are affecting the accuracy of the arrow quite a bit at short distances. I know that this is mostly a form thing, but my thinking is that the drop away would help mitigate my form deficiencies.
Guess I just need to practice a lot more so I can get accurate with the WB. My ultimate goal with archery is to hunt, so it's good to know that a lot of hunters prefer the WB.

All my compounds have QAD drop-away rests. Nothing wrong with a WB, but I just favor the QAD's.

I use a WB for hunting in all weather situations from below freezing, rain or snow .
I also shoot 3d's and 5 spot. Many times shooting as good or out shooting guys with drop aways.
Recently dialed in a new bow to me out to 60 yards with a Kill shot WB. One x, two within an inch or so of the x.

Used to have a QAD HDX. That started to make a snap or click sound on the shot.
I also have a Limb driver pro v. And really dont see I shoot any better with that. But I do like the limb driven rest over the cable drop away.
Nothing wrong with a WB.

another factor is how ugly it makes a bow look. you can slap a red tailgate on a green truck and it still closes and gets the job done, but it just doesnt look good.
get a 700 bow and then you put a 29.99$ rest with the bristles all mangled just looks cheap imo. sure you can hit a target with a 20$ 3 pin sight with flourescent fishing line for pin fibers but is that really what you want to do? you dont have to be a bow tech to keep a drop away working .

Whisker bisket goes against everything you want. You want no fletching contact and you want at little arrow contact as you can get. Get rid of the WB and go with a drop away or keep wondering why you are chasing the bulls eye.

WB’s are excellent rests.
There are ton of great drop aways. QAD, limb driver, smack downs, to name a few.
I have mainly used QAD but have often thought of going back to a WB. I have a ton of friends that kill great deer every year with their WB’s.
Keep it simple.
