A 38 ATA Switchback is a great idea but with the Apex 7 being of similar specs I am not sure it will happen.

A 36 ATA is more likely as that gap opened when the LX stopped.

A longer Switchback would be heavier, like the Trykon XL. Look at how many people complain about the Trykon XL being heavy. If Mathews dont build what you want you could look at maybe the Trykon XL or maybe the Ross 337. I'm sure there are other bows like them also :)

Not me.

I want a 40" ATA Switchback. The Apex doesn't have parallel limbs. The Ovation lacks speed. If it is heavy, cut out more riser or go to the gym. I picked up my brother-in-laws apex 7 and it is a brick. The Apex is already over 1/2 lb heavier than a switchback. Surely 6 more inches of machined aluminum riser wouldn't weigh much more than that. Plus, 65% let off isn't for a lot of people. I love my Mathews but those Constitutions and Generation IIs sure do look nice......

Many want this also

Apex7 has been a big hit. Cost is exspensive

An affordable 37" Switchback would be ideal for hunting and tournament. Hunters today want short axle bows.

While it sounds neat, I wonder if the geometry of the Switchback works in a longer length. I'm sure Mathews has heard this demand . . . but if the bow don't work it don't work! I didn't shoot the Ross 37" but I did shoot the 34" and it seemed a lot nicer to hold and draw then the 37 and the 34 was just like shooting my Switchback. I mention the Ross because it is such a similar bow and they do have the longer version. Our local dealer said of the guys that have bought them, the 34" is a MUCH bigger seller.

I've been touting that for some time now and Mathews just doesn't seem to hear me. I would buy one in a minute and never look back. I like a longer ATA and the Switchback is the quietest bow I've ever shot.

The Icon is very close to what you are describing - long riser & parallel limbs. Even the cam is similar to the SB cam. I think that the Icon is still among the best designs that Mathews has come up with. I've wondered why Mathews dropped it from their lineup.

On the Mathews site MANY archers have been asking for one for years to no avail. The Ovation while nice is a 40 incher and has no where near the parallel limb design of the SB so it has more hand shock and noise which was why I sold mine. Ross had exactly what I was looking for minus the roller guard and the string suppressors which I'm not to fond of anyway and better string and cable to boot. As far as weight goes my 337 is 4.4, the SB is 4.34 and the big "o" was only 4.5 not enough weight to worry about the difference. So, why don't they make it? I guess to lose sales to Ross and Bowtech???

I can't see it happening. Matthews makes alot of money off of the Switchbacks and the Apex's. If they made a tournament sized Switchback (36"+) it would only hurt Switchback sales and Apex sales. They would also have the cost of the design and setup to produce its riser. I think they have everything nailed down pretty good. BTW all of the Ovation bashing is off the mark in my opinion. That is a great bow. Smooth, quick, quiet, stable, affordable...

basically the ovation

I sure hope not.

I bought an Ovation back in early February. I sold it in March. It was not the bow I hoped it would be: loud, hand shock from the cam actuation and too slow for it to be a full priced bow compared to other offerings.

Fortunately the Old Glory worked out perfectly and took care of the slot vacated by the Ovation.

Really, Bowtch has the Old Glory and this bow is in that size range. I bet we sell 10 Tribute's or Alligence's to 1 Old Glory.
thats too bad the OG is a great bow, i think people just overlook it.

I've been whining for a 36"ish ATA Switchback for a couple of years. :D I got tired of waiting so I picked up a 337 the other day on the cheap. Darn thing holds like a dream. An M version would be nice too, I bet. I'd still order one if they'll produce it.

I know that the M trend has been shorter and shorter bows, but I think they're missing the boat with customers wanting longer ATA parallel-limbed bows. It's the only hole in their current line-up. The only reason I can figure is that they can't come up with a "marketable" speed in a solocammed, parallel bow.
