Who makes really good cable locks for Treestands?

hey fellas

I bought a bunch of 5/8 inch thick master lock cable locks in 6 foot lengths for my ladder stands and hang on stands about five years ago. The shroud which covers the lock mechanism is plastic and overtime becomes brittle and cracks off. The locks still function however the mechanism is now exposed to the elements. To their credit master lock sent me 4 replacements free of charge. However they are the same type so I expect the plastic housing over the lock mechanism to suffer the same fate. Are there any companies out there making a really good cable lock? Preferably something that has a metal housing or shroud around the lock mechanism.

Thanks

Joe,

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't mind using these for my trail cameras which are in steel security boxes. I did not know that you could buy these keyed alike.

However for my ladder stands and hang on stands I would like a much thicker cable. I'm just not sure if the or any companies out there that make a real heavy duty cable lock for tree stands

Finding a lot of mixed reviews on cable locks anywhere from 5/8 of an inch to three quarters of an inch. Still looking for something that is extra heavy and has good reviews.

First of all about four years ago I started using these ladder stand locking brackets. So basically the bottom 4 feet of my ladder stand section is off the ground. It does two things. Stop someone else from hunting in your stand. Secondly it deters them from climbing up your ladder to steal your stand. Like I said in the beginning I'm looking for a heavy duty cable lock to secure the ladder stand to the tree. They would have to come by with their own ladder and tools to steal a $50 ladder stand. I would just like to make it as difficult as possible. For me it's not the cost of the stand. It's the possibility of walking into the woods and having no place to hunt.

Well I'm sorry but if you think removing 4' off the bottom of your ladder is going to deter people yet you need a 5/8"+ cable to keep them from taking it something doesn't add up.
I'll stick by my original reply, go to climber or LW setup but I will add this...forget the 5/8"+cable and go with a chain and all weather master lock like this if you want to keep your ladder stands (minus the bottom 4')

It's because I already own a dozen ladder stands in about six hang on stands. The vinyl zone brackets do work. Walking the upper section of the ladder stand to the tree is just an added level of security. It's very unlikely that they would try to climb up the ladder since the bottom 4 feet is off the ground.
