G5 was the builder of Ross.....Andy Ross was just a rockabilly singer. When Ross lost credibility about 2009, G5 continued to make the same bows under the name "Quest" and then started their own proprietary line "Prime" in 2011. I owned a 2007 and 08 Cardiacs. The 08 I gifted to my son-in-law as his first bow and he still has it today.

Andy Ross designed a few really good bows under the name of Ross Archery. The CR series and Cardiac Series were really good bows for the time. Many compared the Cardiac 33 to the Mathews Switchback, only better. Andy didn't have the best business sense and started having some financial difficulties. G5 was making the parts for the bows I believe and after the initial breakup, begin to sell a few models based on Ross's design. Ross Archery resumed making bows a few years later 2010 or 2011 I believe, but Ross's name was the only affiliation with the actual company. Their Crave bows were nice bows but nothing that separated them from a dozen other companies with a better track record.

I believe that after the breakup of Ross and G5, they were in a venture with bowtech for a year or two before John Ralph III took over operations and Andy just became a spokesperson.

Mike Osborn was instrumental for the comeback of Ross Archery and was a really good asset. Too bad that he left for other ventures. He helped me a lot with warranty work and new limbs, along with a plethora of good, usable information about my bow.

I agree that Mike Osborn was a really good guy. I bought a spare set of limbs for my Cardiacs through him and also learned some things from him. The Cardiac was my bridge back to modern archery from 3 decades of shooting trad gear and the advice to buy one was VERY sound. I have never regretted buying either of those bows and as mentioned, my son-in-law is still shooting the '08.

This is true . I have a 2009 Bowtech /Ross - Carnivore . It still is one of my best bows . Mine does not have the Krank system which makes it even more odd.

The old CR bows were nice IMO. Well made and great shooters. I know Andy Ross was involved that's why they were called Ross Archery.......so he was more than a singer.......lol. If he was the designer or the just the wallet I don't know. I liked my CR 337.........at LOT.

Of course Ross was a financial backer and front man for "Ross Archery". But what precisely do you think he....or even Ted Nugent for that matter....actually "designed" with their names attached? Maybe the safari looking camo on arrows with Nugent's name....not the arrow itself? The majority of these celebrity hunters simply market their entertainment fame to attract a fan base, but how many have any type of engineering or design background??? LOL

I had cr334 and original Cardiac. Awesome bows for sure! I believe they came with Winners choice strings and all Simms dampers and Teflon cable slides.
The CR334 tuned right down the center and was Soo easy to shoot! Great hunting bow but not really fast.

The 34 was a great hunting bow and the 37 was a GREAT target bow for its time .... Would love to find a 37 to turn into an indoor bow at some point but haven't seen one in a while

Andy Ross had Ross Archery and I think the Carnivore and the Cardiac were bought by G5 around the time I got the PSE I shoot now and that was 2008. I shot a few Ross bows and they were nice shooting bows. As far as where they went from there I do not know.

Andy did design the bows he started the company with his wife at the time Angie . He also had the bone collector logo on his hats before waddell ran with it so you could say he was the first bone collector and it was his idea.

Curious how you "know" this and what is the connection to Doug Hutchinson? Designing bows is not a garage hobby, unless you are Hollis Allen or Tom Jennings. If your contention is true.....I stand corrected. However nothing I have read indicated that Andy Ross had the skills to design bows.

He designed the one's he started out with in 05 .after he went to G5 and bowtech I'm not sure and then in 2011 john Ralph III took over and Andy was just a face for the company. He had some really good bows but I thought he acted like a tool and a wanna be rockstar.he would have stayed in business if he would have put more time in the company than in the other stuff

Still would like to know how you came to know this information? After hearing several years ago that Doug Hutchinson was the bow designer of Ross bows, I would like to get more definitive information on how Andy Ross came to understand bow design.....did he have a manufacturing or engineering background?

I was a Ross dealer in 07 when I opened
Nice bows
As far as I know or have ever been told, Doug Hutchinson was the engineer/designer of the CR (stood for Charles Ross, Andy's real name)
and the original Cardiac.
Met him at the factory in KC in 07, great guy, when the original Ross fell apart, he went to a job outside the archery business?
Mike Osborn is also a great guy
Andy and Angie came to my 1 year anniversary party for the shop. Angie was a sweetheart, Andy, well, he was Andy. Lol

Round 2 Andy buddied up with Bowtech
Still made a Cardiac, not nearly the bow the original was, and the Carnifore, nice bow but had the strange "crank" thing

Bout that time, I was done with Ross

Then, Andy made a "comeback" made more bows, not sure where or by who, had his TV show, wine company, probably sleeveless shirts etc, etc, etc,
Haven't heard what he's up to nowadays???

I believe Andy ran the archery department at Cabela's in KC back in the day. I thought that he designed the bow when he was working there then left to pursue the company. Those bows tuned easy. Just set the centershot at 3/4 and a level nock and they shot lights out. Just a tad bit of vibe but were very easy to tune. Great hunting bows.

G5 (Grace engineering) did the machine work, risers, cams, mods
Not sure who made the limbs?

If I do get a cookie, I like chocolate chip. Lol
