Ok so I currently shoot a Contender Elite. Had it since they come out shoots good. But I want something else. Looking for advice on why I would like a PCE or a podium x better. What makes them better? Still gonna be spiral cams so the cam isn't gonna be any different. So tell me why I would like one better than the contender elite.

I should be telling you how great the PCE is and to run out and get one (actually mine haha it's for sale....). But,! I can't do that. Not to say the PCE isn't a great bow because it is. I shot some really great scores with mine and had good success. But for me, it was stressful and effort increasing to do so. I had to really be on top of my game to get the best out of things. I believe the lowered grip and the way I had to weight the bars played into that. It just never felt totally comfortable to me.

With my Podium X, I can still get great results, maybe even better results actually, and best of all it's effortless. I mean effortless. It took me five total shots from two through paper and three with a bareshaft to get it tuned to start with. I spent HOURS with my PCE to get the same results I got in literally 15 minutes. Heck, in an hour I had 20, 40, 50, 70 yard marks on the bow actually. And was group tuning to squeeze all I could from the bow.

Either is a great bow. And your results may vary because each person is different, shoots a different shot, and likes a different feel. So you could get both and still enjoy it. But if it's me and I have to tell you get a bow. Get the Podium.

You don't need either. Love my vantage elites. They aren't going to make you hold on target any better.

And the pro comp sucked for me. Just didn't hold or score as well.

I was all excited for the podiumx 37, but it was for the same reasons I still have my contender elite (had 3 at one time).
I couldnt justify the cost for new, thinking the difference of what Id sell my contender for would only gain me the new grip, mounts, etc.....close enough platform otherwise.
Im sure Im wrong, but will be waiting for a used one at a much reduced cost to prove it.
I know how little tweeks can make big improvements, despite looking transparent on paper and is probably the case with this one.....but Im playing with a couple other bows while the used ones lose value.

I haven't shot a Podium, but I had a Vantage Elite Plus that I loved, followed by a PCEXL that I learned to like, but it was never the same as the Vantage for me. Lots of effort to tune, balance, and I couldn't get myself to do it again to switch from indoor to outdoor setup. So I sold it even though I had it shooting lights out indoors.

I also had a PSE Dominator Max at the same time I had the PCEXL, and that one I loved even more than the Vantage.

Now I have an OK Absolute 40 on order and hoping that one will tune, balance and shoot at least as well as the Dominator.

Anyway, if I had to do it again, I'd skip the PCEXL and possibly get a Podium, or if Hoyt is not a requirement, a Dominator (I still can't speak for the Abs 40, although I believed that one will tune and shoot really well, probably the best of all I've shot).

I picked up a 40" Podium X Elite with the Spiral Pro cams, it was my investment for my first real target bow (Had a '13 Prime Impact before). I did try shooting the Pro Edge Elite and while it seems smoother, the PXE seemed crisper to me so that's what I went with. The biggest thing to me was the different grips that came with it, it made the bow way more comfortable to hold and shoot and is likely my favorite part. The bow has also survived a dry fire without so much as a single problem at 60 lbs (Long story short- never let anyone touch your bow... I almost learned the hard way!).

I haven't shot either the contender or the Pro Comp though, so I'm not totally sure the difference, but I can certainly say the PXE is definitely nice.

Many times it's not the bows at all, but you improving over time. Have you noticed how people blame the bow for improvements in their scores? And conversely, they also blame the bow when they shoot worse!

Two years ago, I got my new Hoyt Spyder 30, and in a very short time I was beating my best scores, shot with my Contender Elite w/Spirals! Now pure physics says that makes no sense, right? But it was true, I was shooting great (for me) scores with that little bow with a 7 pin Spot Hogg Hunter and a short stabilizer.
Well, that got me interested in my target bow again, but the Contender, with the Spirals, that were just a tad too long for me was a bear for me to shoot. I was getting older and you need to shoot the spirals everyday to stay ahead of them...and I was falling behind them! So I sold the Contender and bought a PCE with GTX cams. Awesome bow (except for the orange color) and ver quickly, I was shooting even better scores than the Spyder!
I was really just improving my mental game, and it really wasn't the bows at all!

That said, the Spyder 30 is my favorite bow and will not be sold anytime in the near future! Confidence can and does play a huge role in our shooting...mental game, remember?

And sometimes we buy a bow on a downward swing in out shooting, and blame the bow!

I've shot with a Contender Elite for a couple of years and i liked the bow, good scores. But with a fysical problem (shoulder and elbow pain) i decided to buy an other bow (must first convinced the wife) lower drawweight, inch longer Drawlenght

I'd tried the PCE , Dominator, elite Victory but they don't felt very comfortable. I found the bows very short and instable.
I'm 2 meter long (it's 6, 6 I believe) so I tried the podium 37 first and then the X40, and it's fits direct, after a short tunig session I shoot my best scores, just in the trying out sessie at my dealer. it's a very easy bow to handle althoug it's 40 inch long, it's feel steady and stable with the GTX cams, I've tried the Spirals, but somehow, it's to aggresive for me

OP, it's because they're the new kids on the block and calling your name. :)
Might as well get over it; go buy one.
I would prefer the Podium, jmo. :)

I've owned a PCE, still have a PCE FX, and started with a PXE yesterday.

All I've done so far is paper tune, shot in a 20 and 40 yard mark on the PXE.
And to this point .... WOW!
The tuning process on the PXE is easier/quicker than any bow I've ever owned.
Hoyt should have incorporated that cable guard years ago.

Cant say yet how the bow is gonna shoot for me at 60+ yards.
But at this point, I have a really good feeling about it.
And I'm shooting factory threads at this point.
My string guy is kinda busy right now.

I have had 4 pce haven't shot the pxe. Had 2 contenders one elite and one non shoot through. I wish I still had the contenders when I sold them I thought I was getting a significant upgrade what I found was they were the similar with a few newer feature.... In a nut shell if you are shooting the contender well and it's in good shape ask yourself why are you considering a switch...
