HI all,
How's the deer hunting in Williamson....also, what are the regulations for nonresidents @ crab orchard wildlife refuge? how is the hunting there and is it worth it as far as public land goes. doesn't seem as if there's any other public land nearby

Hey Muzzy,

I live in Johnson County which is right below Williamson. Most the the regs are the same for res and non res, just check at the IL DNR website for any special requirements. Crab gets hunting pretty good so it might be a little crowed, what time of year are you going to be there?? The Shawnee National Forest is all around you. The best advice to give you is go to Vienna or Harrisburg U.S. Forest Service Ranger station. Their both about a half hour drive from Marion. If you check with them you can get maps of different public hunting areas thoughout southern IL.
