My new farm this past fall has plenty of birds.
Already know where the blinds will be set!

Love turkey hunting, but they are the one animal that I prefer hunting with a gun. Just don't enjoy being stuck in one location, in a blind. Run and gun. If one bird doesn't cooperate, I'll move on to a bird that will.

Thank ya much. When I finally was working one last year and he was talking and moving back and forth I realized why people love it so much. I've quit chasing em about 5 times in 2 seasons, but I know inside I'm hooked 🤣

I see some guys that deer hunt say they don't get excited about turkey hunting. I've never understood that. Nothing more exciting then a Tom hammering in response to your calls and then that blue head closing the distance. Love both deer and turkey hunting. Glad I don't have to choose between the 2.

I 100% agree with you and I absolutely love turkey hunting. Turkey are the only species I prefer to gun hunt. I don't like being stuck in a blind and I love to set up new turkey shotguns and pattern them with chokes and TSS. Just like I tune my bows, I tune my shotguns for turkey hunting. Here are my turkey guns!

Popup blind hunting has grown on me the past several years and I have two Baronette blinds to verify that.....plus a Red Neck bale blind for deer. I don't feel "stuck" because at any time I can get out with a decoy and stool in hand and go "run and bow" if I want. Or simply move the blind to a better location if needed. The area of calls is a black hole of potential addiction.....you have "X", but one or two more is appealing. It used to be 9 months of waiting for early archery deer season to open up, but now it is spring turkey in May and fall turkey in mid-September, followed up by early archery. A great motivator to get outside in your hunting areas to pre-scout and also the challenge of bagging a bird.

Wow and I thought I had a problem lol. Had a mossberg 835 with a cheap tru glo gobble dot scope, but hated how that gun kicked, so sold it. I now have a Remington Versa Max sportsman turkey edition with a Burris FastFire 3 red dot and an Indian Creek Diamondback choke. I pair the gun with 3" 2oz Federal TSS and the gun just flat out shoots.

My 835 was awesome but kicked way too much. I shot 3.5" for a while but they rocked me big time so never again. I hear the Versa Max is a real nice shooting gun. And I am also a big fan of the Burris FF3 and Indian Creeks. Good luck this season.

I plan to kill one with my bow this year. I need to brainstorm a bit, because I will be without a blind and very mobile… they are just so paranoid and see everything!

thought about a blind, but I’m covering a lot of ground and like keeping it simple. Besides a couple half days on either end of a trip, I will be walking at least 15 miles in a full day and often do 6-8 setups during a day, and those quick reposition scenarios aren’t happening with a blind… maybe a 2 panel or something would work. Those birds cover a ton of ground and everything is a long walk to get into the zones.

I think just building makeshift blinds as I go might be best, maybe some camo mesh…
