I bought a Bitzenburger jig, some white wraps, and Vanetec 4" Vmax vanes... I cleaned everything with denatured alcohol, and used loctite super glue gel.

I have NEVER done this before, so I read the directions that came with the jig, and everything went pretty well. The jig was preset at the 120° setting, so I lined all the hash marks up, made sure I was getting good contact with the shaft, and went to town.

Applying the vanes went pretty good, and I was done in no time. I was under the impression from the instructions that if I started with the flat part of the nock receiver dial in the "up" position, that that would align my "cock" vane. For some reason (didn't pay any attn. until I was done) my black cock vane is absolutely not aligned with the nock, nor are either of the other two vanes. I can twist the nock to align it, but I am curious why this happened... Any ideas?

Below is a pic of my very first attempt at wrapping and fletching. I cannot believe I didn't have to redo anything. lol

Thanks for looking!

Nice job.

The standard receiver is designed for the cock vane at 9-o'clock,
for a right handed recurve shooter.

These days, just twist the nock.

If you don't want to twist the nock,
then there is an optional receiver for cock vane up/down.

Thank you very much nuts&bolts!!!

I thought I had done something wrong, but absolutely could not figure out what it was... I thought it was odd that the cock vane was lined up perfectly with a little hash mark on the side of the nock, but wasn't sure what the deal was.

Thanks again!

Very nice, its a good feeling to do it your self, isnt it. As for the nock not lining up with the cock vane, just twist the nock, I have always had to do that on mine.

Thank you guys for the kind comments and for your help!

It really surprised me how simple the whole process was. Like I said, I have never wrapped or fletched before, but I had it in my mind that it would be a PITA the get the vanes good and straight, and stuck on the shaft good.... Perhaps the Bitz jig helped. I've never used any other jigs, but I am VERY please with the quality, and ease of use of this Bitzenburger.

I had to take my bow to have a new set of strings/cables made for it today, but I was able to shoot my newly fletched arrow approx. 20-25 times before I had to take the bow to the shop.

Arrow shot good, and the new vanes don't look like they have even been shot after 20-25 times. All in all, I'm very happy!

Pic from today below.

Forgot to mention. Since I had to twist the nock for alignment, I went ahead and replaced the flo. green one with a white super nock.
