I am planning on getting a new base layer to wear for next season. I am torn between the Under Armour and X-Scent/Xstatic. Here's my dilemma: I like the fact that the UA wicks the moisture away. I reallly like that the X-Scent kills any bacteria. Does the X-Scent wick the moisture away from your skin as well as the UA? All I read about it says that the X-Scent "conducts the heat away from your body". Does that mean that it wicks away moisture? I read that the base layer X-Scent is 95% cotton. That has me a little concerned.

What is everyone's experiences with either product now that the season is winding down?

Thanks,
Dave

I can't give an opinion on UA as I haven't tried it. I can however tell you that I was thoroughly impressed with my X-static long underwear that I purchased and used this past season. It was the MTP hunt series in Tech Silk Weight and I found it to be extremely comfortable. I wore this stuff every time I went out this past season and I'll be honest with you - I strongly believe these garments helped me to stay more scent free than ever before. I hunted hard this past fall and can honestly say I was never busted once by deer this past season. I actually shot my Nebraska buck after he'd approached my stand from downwind of me and I was never detected.I had similar instances happen throughout the season where deer came from downwind of me and I just sat in disbelief sometimes thinking OK I'm busted - but it was amazing to say the least.Anyway, I should tell you I also adhere to a pretty regimented scent control routine and I know this all plays into being successful as well but I really believe the X-static is a great tool to aid you in the control of human odor while out in the field.I also noticed that it really helped regulate my body heat as I walked to and from my stand - I was skeptical at first because I feared that I'd sweat walking in to my stand on those kind of in between days temperature wise and I was surprised at how well these garments kept me from sweating. I don't know if wicking away moisture is the right choice of words but lets just say I wasn't wet with perspiration after the walk in in the a.m. - some mornings I'd walk close to a 1/2 mile to get to stands.Sorry for being so long winded - and no, X-static isn't paying me to say any of this - I just feel very strongly about how this product performed for me this past season - hope this helps! By the way, there's no way the garments I was using could be 95% cotton - they are very elastic and fit snugly to your skin - I don't recall exactly what their fiber content is but I do recall they had something like 3 or 4% Ex-static in them.I purchased them from Cabelas.Pm Me if you've got any other questions!!!
