Finalizing my new set up. Down to the sight. Never researched and pondered something so long w/o conclusion, driving me nuts.
I want something adjustable for casual shooting, 3D etc. So no fixed.
I find most of my shot opportunities are low 30's and in.
Long time HHA single pin user, but thinking a 2nd pin for the 30-ish shots would require less movement on my part.
I don't want 3 pins-either horizontal or vertical-too cluttered for me.
Or, should I just stay with a single pin?

Please share your thoughts/experiences on this, I appreciate it.

Practice at multiple ranges with your pin set to 30 yards. In my experience, my bow shot 2” high at 20 yards and 8” low at 40 with the pin set at 30.

I switched to an HHA single pin several years ago from a multi-pin sight, mainly to clear up my sight picture for aging eyes. Most of my hunting is tight so I have never had to adjust my pin before a shot while hunting, I usually set it at 25 and I am good for anything from 20 to 30 without adjustment, but multi-pins do have their place.

Coming from a notorious over thinker, don't over think it.
You stated that you want adjustability and don't really want multiple pins, so unless you are going with an electronic, range finding, angle compensating sight, you already have a good sight; so put it on your rig and get to shooting, you can always replace it later if you want.

Totally agree. I set my sight at 20 and typically leave it there. Even with a 27.5 DL my set up can make a clean kill shot out to 30 by aiming at middle of the vitals. Once in my stand I range the area and know where the 30-yard circumference is related to my shooting lanes. Keep it simple with less confusion when the heart is pumping from excitement.

trophy ridge hot wire, yes it has 3 pins but the 3rd pin just move it to the bottom and when you want/need to shoot longer move it to where you want it. that way you will not have to worry or even think about, Did I move my pin back to 20 or did I leave it at 30 ?
I hunt wide open spaces from a tree, but limit shots to 40,

at the range I can move that one pin out to 70, with higher poundage bows out to infinity

It is likely impossible to optimize for 2 different scenarios (hunting and casual shooting) in all dimensions simultaneously, since there are compromises involved. My hunting sight is a 2 pin, fixed with top pin at 25 yards and bottom at 40. It is perfect for how I hunt.

Spot Hogg Fast Eddie 2 pin vertical. You never notice the 2nd pin until you need it. Shoot it like a single pin. Move it whenever/wherever you need it. The 2nd pin is a "safey" in the event you don't get time to move the sight. Most bow setups end up with the 2nd pin landing around 35yds +/- when the top pin is set at 20yds.

Did some of you guys even read his initial thread or not? He’s not interested in a 3 pin, slider or not, and I couldn’t agree with him more. A complete waste, just get a fixed sight and quit wasting your money. He asked for a good 2 pin recommendation, or whether to stay with a single. I could maybe see a 2 pin being beneficial in some scenarios , but not really, especially for his uses.

So back to your original question, my vote is to stick with what you’re using. HHA is the best in the business, IMO, and a single pin. Like said above, a single pin will get you to 40 easily with practice, as you know, and much less clutter. Good luck in your search though.

I tend to agree, I guess why decision is so difficult. Hard to leave what I'm accustomed to, just thought I was possibly missing something.
I'm starting from scratch and will continue my search for a single pin, more than likely another HHA.
I appreciate the help fellas (y)

Maybe it goes back to my FITA target shooting days with a single pin slider, followed by 3 decades of sightless trad shooting. But I tried pretty much every configuration from multiple fixed pins to dual sliders and always come back to a single pin slider. Sure, it has limitations.....as does pretty much every other option. I shot MBG single pin sliders for several years and tried an HHA Tetra a couple winters ago. Now that is all I shoot.....have two with zero regrets. There is a big difference between the old low end HHA sights and their upper end models. They have added upgrades since my model Tetra and I'm pretty sure you would find what you like in their lineup.

I just bought a Tetra RYZ. So far, I'm still debating if I like it any more than the single pin. I hunt mainly in the deep woods and thickets where 30 yards is a long shot. I do have the occasional opportunities at shots out to 40 or 50 yards, but I try to limit myself to inside 30. Currently, I keep my pin on 25 yards and the zero stop at 20. I can aim at middle to high lungs out to 30-35 yards and still be in the vitals using my 25 setting. I guess I've been using HHA single pins for so long, it just seems natural to me.

MBG dual trac. Second pick would be the triple stack and put electrical tape over the 3rd pin. It disappears and you have a 2 pin that both are adjustable. Main complaints about the triple stack are: pins aren’t refined as the dual trac and it’s heavier. The housing size adjustability of the triple stack is very nice though.
