Does increasing tip weight weaken or stiffen arrow spine?
My thought is adding weight weakens the spine?

Spine is spine.

Adding weight or increasing draw weight can break the spine.

I agree with SHPoet that it doesn't change the spine but it doesn't "break" it either. It changes the flex which changes the reaction of the arrow out of the bow known as dynamic reaction. We're getting really technical here...For all general purposes, adding weakens and removing stiffens. That's for the front. For the back it's the opposite. Adding to the back stiffens the reaction and removing gives a weaker reaction or increases flex.

Spine is a measurement of a 1.98lb weight being suspended at 14" with the bareshaft being supported at 28". That will never change because it is a static reading. When you add/remove weight or lengthen/shorten the shaft you change the dynamic reaction. Unfortunately the industry has called that change "spine" or "dynamic spine" but it should not be confused with static spine. Hope that helps.
