Hi Bushman ,

I've never shot a Kudu but I have seen several life size mounts up close . They are very impressive looking animals . The ones I saw were compareable to elk but had similarities to Moose ( ridge on back ) . I have taken two elk with a bow and Rifle shot one huge Alaskan Moose . My guide and friend said he would go between 1400 and 1500 lbs . He had a 62 '' spread . I was so detemined to kill him with my bow I still had my release on when I shot him before he ran out of range . My buddy packed a 378 Weatherby by me the entrie trip in case of Griz encounters . We saw 4 Griz while out hunting ! Awesume senery up north .

Are you planning a trip to Africa ? I am not sure but some areas only allow two blade leading cutting edge heads like Magnus , Zwickey , Phantom , ect..... Might be a minimum poundage per bow as well . Consult the expert here " Tink " I am out of my league on this one . Of all the African game I have seen the Greater Kudu is one of the most beautifull in my opinon . I think a good bull is 48'' spiral and up ?

Bushman-
I was amazed at how far forward the vitals were on plains game. In looking at a shot placement book prior to going, it looked as if you should shoot for the muscle mass straight above the front leg. That's what I did and didn't lose an animal. Shoot a whitetail in the same place and you would think you were all into the shoulder blade. Not so on African game, as far as I could tell. Definitely not an expert, but just what I saw and did. Hope it helps.
