Have any of you guys tried this stuff out? I'm thinking about getting a set for elk hunting (early season archery, probably warm weather). Last year I wore standard cotton BDU style 6-pocket pants and cotton button-down, but my shirt would be soaked after extensive hiking and never really got all that dry. It wasn't a huge issue b/c it never really got that cold, but I'd like to get a set of synthetic pants and shirt to check out.

I read all the reviews on Cabelas' site and this stuff looks like it's the ticket.

I wanted my AT peeps opinion first though.

definitely better than the Silent Weave line they offer. dries quicker for sure and just as quiet.
i think they're worth the money.

I've had a set for a couple years now, and I like it. It's not perfect though (for me nothing is...my curse I guess:wink:) Anyhow, my biggest complaint would be the cut, someone mentioned above that there were a bit baggy. That's spot on. Super baggy. Other than that, great. Although for hot weather it's not super cool either!!! But all in all...great stuff!

I love my microtex pants...couldn't believe I spent so many years in cotton. I have used it anywhere from early elk hunts, to prarie prong horn and mule deer, to whitetail and turkey. Great stuff, and so far it has lived up to the adevrtising hype. No fading, fairly burr proof (nothing is truly burr proof), and darn tough, but soft and quiet. I found the pants to run true to size, and haven't experienced them to be baggy.

I never have noticed mine getting wet enough to need to be dried...and I sweat like few others.

I also tried out some of the shirts. They were heavier than I prefer. Great for the early morning chills, but once it heated up it was too much. I think they would be great in the stand or blind, but for on the go hunting, I got wanted I wanted from layering a couple of different shirts.

I have a pair of the microtex pants and the button shirt and love it.It is the most comfortable and durable clothing I have ever purchased.I will be getting the rest of there microtex lineup for this fall.
+1

We love it.

I would agree with SD

The fabric is excellent but they are now cut funny. I have some of the original pants- about 8 years old that fit better.

The microtex fabric just gets better over time

Now that you mention it, I have a bunch of older pairs of Cabelas 6 pocket cotton/poly pants and that's exactly right. They were much trimmer and a better fit for me. My last pair of pants I got I felt like MC Hammer's stunt double.

Its been my predominant hunting stuff for several years...mine is kinda like a "relaxed fit".

Holding its color pretty good and is durable (although its not fireproof or barbed wire fence proof:zip:). Keeps me from feeling soggy.

Good fabric, but I wouldn't say it's a CA early season fabric. It was my pick before I got my Sitka Mtn pants and Summit shirt.

Good Value for the money. I got the XL size and wear 36 inch waist and stand 6 ft even...it has the Traditional hunting clothes fit, but the sitka is trimmer on the arms if bowstring clearance is an issue.

It's probably the best thing for a wool shirt fan who wants a synthetic fabric.. notice the extra fabic....Contrast that withthe more form fitting sitka mountain shirt that Cal has on..you can see the difference...

Light, hard to get wet, and dries fast. Disadvantage would be lack of durability in briars, if you have any in your woods.
I've found it to be one of the more durable fabrics out there. We have a lot of multiflora rose, which is pretty tough on clothing. My Microtex holds up great in it. In fact, I have a Microtex jacket which I think is close to 20 years old. It looks like it can go for another 20.
