Lacquer thinner for vane cleaning, primer pen, aae max bond glue, light wipe of the wrap

 

missing the glue that the mfg says to use for their Elastimax material

 

I tried the aae max stealth two ways.
Primer pen + gorilla glue gel green top: vanes fall off
Primer pen + pine ridge archery glue: solid adhesion. A little bit cheaper than the aae glue

 

I really wish the vanes and more "specific" archery glue weren't necessary but I took 5 shots in my basement without weather conditions and the vanes fell right off.

I'd love to hear from someone else if they had tried without the primer pen (maybe denatured alcohol instead) and hear results?

I also tried acetone vane prep and gorilla glue and obv those fell off my wrapped arrows too.

 

This is essentially the same experience I had. With denatured.

TAC primer pen and glue.

One swipe of pen on vane.

Swipe wrap with alcohol.

Run bead of glue and set.

Small dab of glue on either end of fletching.

Never had one come off yet.

 

Also, be sure alcohol is 90% or higher.

 

I try not to touch the wraps to much then wipe down with clean dry cloth. Use primer pen and Aae Max Bond glue. No problems yet.

 

Just switched to Q2i fusion, no primer pen, no special glue, stick like no other vane.

Just ordered a hundred. I’ll give em a shot! Have you shot the 3”? Did it steer fixed blades well?

 

I use the one stringer wraps and AAE Max vanes. Denatured alcohol on the wraps, primer pen on the vanes, AAE glue with the only issue being the white vanes. For some reason they did not stick but all other colors too.

 

They work perfectly if you follow the directions

 

I just use the primer pen and bohning platinum glue. Doesn’t take much of the primer pen just one pass. No prep on the wraps then tip and tail the vanes with glue. Generally if I loose a vane it’s is the wrap part ripping off the shaft, not the glue.

 

AAE Primer pen and Fletchweld glue. I’m using Bohning wraps. No problems whatsoever. I watched a video from the nock-on dude, he recommended putting a dot of glue on the leading end and trailing end of the vane, I’ve had to pull these through the bag target and they have held up really well. Using the AAE Pro Max fletchings. I would also add I use acetone to clean the arrow and wrap before gluing the vanes, just plain old fingernail polish remover. Just a quick swipe, it will soften the wrap of you stay on it too long.
