Adding a bleeder to Cutthroat

It seems like bleeders really help creating a good blood trail. I’m shooting cutthroats and the couple of deer I have killed have had very little of a blood trail. I was wondering if anyone add a bleeder to Cutthroat Broadhead and if so did it change the flight? What brand did you use? The only one I found was the kudupoint, only $16 dollars so it would be cheap to try them.

Shot placement will make a bigger difference in blood trail than an extra little bleeder. IMO the whole point of a two blade single bevel is to try to maximize penetration, and a bleeder doesn't help that.
I shot a doe with a 4 blade Tooth of the Arrow last year, double lung pass through, and had no blood until where she crashed. 40 yards away. I shot another deer with a 1-3/8 three blade mech and had no exit because I hit the offside shoulder and that thing left a red carpet to follow.

I concur about blood trails being mainly about shot placement. It's also hole size, but with the same broadhead...if you hit heart or a major artery coming off it, you get instant blood trail. If you hit a good double lung but don't hit major arteries, I typically see some blood if I look hard, but no major blood until they take that first breath. That may be a good 15 yards from the shot.

I know this wasn't a thread about shot placement, so to get back on track...it sounds like what you want is the Evolution 2.0 broadhead with the bloodrings. Look very similar to a cutthroat but designed with the optional bloodrings.

I'd say that adding a bleeder to a broadhead that isn't designed for one would probably not work as well as you would hope. You may be better off buying a pack of heads with bleeders and trying them to see if they work better for you. Kudu, Magnus, Tuffhead, Iron Will....

Buy a different head, cutthroats are great heads, sell them to someone who needs them for what they were designed for and buy a bigger cutting head. Personally, I had a similar issue, but I am also color blind, I switched to a heavier arrow and large cutting expandables and am very happy with the results. I still shoot cutthroats with my recurve and absolutely love them but I would only use them if shooting low-poundage traditional gear.
