I've been eyeing some hoyts and bein the speed freak that i am, i was lookin at the alphaburner. But a Hoyt owner told me his opinion was that the alphaburner was the worst of the late model hoyts. Now, while I value his opinion, it is only one persons opinion. So i want to hear from someone who has owned one or at least shot one several times, what your opinion is of the alphaburner compared to the rest of the hoyt line up? What say ya?

I shot a right handed model (i'm a lefty) when I was out in Ca. a few months back. There was only a non-drop away type rest on it, no stab. or sights. It was a tiny bit louder than I cared for and I noticed some vibration in my hand... but it wasn't shaking my bones loose or anything. I think with a good stab on it, the vibration would have been much less. I enjoyed the bow, nothing wrong with it IMO... but I only know what I know. I ended up with an AM32 purely out of personal preference. I enjoyed the Alphaburner too.

Well he didn't say it was junk. He thought it was the last model of hoyt he would have bought. Not as smooth as he expected i guess. And that's why i'm looking for other opinions. Thanks for yours.

I thought it was too heavy and had zero creep available. It about jerked my arm out of the socket.

Got one.

Fast.

Mine has no vibe.

Fairly quiet.

Deceptively forgiving considering the BH.

Have shot mine literally back to back with my Proelite at 90 meters ( 36 arrows scoring ). The Burner averaged about 5 points less than the Proelite.

Would love to have a second identical Alphaburner as a backup or rig one for fix pins and one for movable sight.

while you hoyt havers ar chiming in( which i appreciate) can you put these in order for me too? AM 32or35- burner- maxxis according to which you would buy if price didn't matter. Thanks!

I guess I'd qualify as a "Hoyt haver", lol. I had the AM32 as my go-to rig this past season. I've shot all of this years Hoyt models as well. With "cost" not being a factor, I ultimately chose the Maxxis31 for 2010.

The Alphaburner is a fine bow, but having the chance to shoot the Alphaburner and Maxxis side-by-side, I chose the Maxxis. The AB was just a bit more aggressive than I prefer—as I am mainly interested in a good, comfortable hunting bow. I relaxed a bit too much the first time I came to full draw with the AB, and as previously mentioned, it tried to "run". For guys who've shot "speed bows" previously, and/or particularly shot Spirals, it's probably a non-issue.

As far as bows pushing 340+, I will say the Alphaburner was one of the more comfortable I've personally shot. The Alphaburner and the SR-71 were tops for me, but to be fair, there are a few 340+ bows I haven't had a chance to shoot this year.

Anyway, per your "list", I'd personally rank them: Maxxis, AlphaMax, AlphaBurner. :thumbs_up

Imo the Alphaburner is an excellent hunting/ 3d bow, hell I even shot spots with mine in the winter.
You put spirals and xt 2000's on a reflexed riser for hunting, its hard to expect annything but great things. Lots of people share my opinion, and I'm not the guy that says my bow is superior because its mine, If I didnt like it i'd sell it and tell everyone how awful it was.

Everyone's opinion on this bow is either love or hate...I personally liked it, but ended up buying the Nemesis instead, and there was conflicting opinions about it at my local shop as well. Some liked it, some hated it. The only thing you can do is test it out, test some others next to it and see what you like the best. The speed is pretty impressive though :D

I shot a Alphaburner a few differant times but it only took 1shot to make it my favorite. I was against the bow from the get go because lets face it. The bow is made up of extra parts Hoyt needs to get rid of. :D But once I shot it I forgot all about that fact. Were kinda scratching each others back on this purchase. HA HA...

If you hate the Alphaburner? I dont see how. It is a great shooting bow. Alot smoother and faster. My only complaint is the Target Model uses Flat Black limbs instead of the glossy limbs they use to have. Also the Camo 2010 limbs are the old camo. I wish the camo looked like the camo on the AlphaMAX.

The Alphaburner is different, not saying good or bad. The spirals are a cam you will either love or hate, but very few people will be in between. Myself, I love the fact they have a super solid wall, with a very small valley. It helps me keep my form together and does not allow me to shoot lazy. They do draw stiff, but they are very smooth, meaning there is little to no change in feel from the start of the draw to the wall.

IMHO, the Alphaburner is the one of the best Hoyt has come out with in the last 2 or 3 year years. I put it neck and neck with the Katera XL with a little bit of advantage because it is a touch faster.

Go shoot one and see what you think of the spirals, it is the only way to know for sure.

I had my pick, and I have an Alpha Burner. It does have its issues; factory string creeps too much, super short valley with no adjustment ( order in the right size! twist cables or strings to get in between half sizes), short brace height due to highly reflexed riser which makes it a critical bow. I knew this going with the bow, it was a speed bow therefore would be more critical- form flaws, slamming trigger or release and inconsistent anchors show. I have shot this bow alot and overcome many issues that may have not been as drastic with a more forgiving bow. I have learned when I do my part, it is extremely accurate. I have grown to love the force draw curve and rock solid back wall of the Spiral X cams. I have replaced OEM strings and cables with custom 452X. Perfectly timed or synched cams- forget it when it comes to this one- creep tune by JAVI proves to me the top cam should be ahead of the bottom in the draw cycle. I believe it has made me a more consistent shooter by paying attention to the grip, my form, release and follow through. The speed produced by this bow makes up for inaccuracies in range estimation. In my opinion, its by far one of the best Hoyts offered- I do not think it is for someone who shoots little before hunting season and does not practice very much. I also think you would need to befriend your local Pro Shop if you use factory strings to keep everything in tune. It will honestly make IBO+ and I have not found noise or vibration to be an issue for me. ( Shooting an Extreme A.C.A.D. 10" stabilizer with a heavy weight on the end. Hope this helps.

shot one and it is what it is .short brace hgt. deflexed riser spiral cams .fast and agressive but it will shoot you just have to do your part .a real bone crusher .but i would use it for hunting only and dont go overboard on poundage

I own a couple of them. I like them better than the Maxxis. My Crackerized Alphaburner is shooting 13 fps over advertised IBO and is as smooth as smooth can be. I'm shooting a 430gr arrow 304fps at a 29" DL and 63#. I've been playing around with both Maxxis models and sending that same 430gr arrow downrange at the mid 280's with the 31 and 35 the draw is much stiffer with the 31 and 35 at that arrow speed than with the Alphaburner at 63# going 20 fps faster. Only a few bows out there that can match the speed and smoothness of the Alphaburner. Accuracy the thing is a tack driver I have never shot better I say that about a lot of bows but I think Hoyt out did themselves this year with the Alphaburner. Definately ranks right up there with my all time favorite bows.

I have to agree with this one!

I think it shoots just as accurate as the guy shooting it. Maybe a little less forgiving than some of the bows out there but it is a speed bow after all.
mine is plenty accurate.

Definitely Alphaburner its not amateur bow beacause of draw curve, you can easily over-bow with this, get less poundage, but this is common with speed bows i think. I have 80lbs 30dl burner half and half, also have Monster 6.0 80lbs. In alphaburner i had to take grip off to get more draw length compares to monster and monster is easier to hold because of higher let-off. Spiral cams seems to need just right DL..
