Hey guys just wondering if there was anybody that hunts Ft. Bragg on here. I searched it but most threads were pretty old. Ill be pcsing there beginning of Sept and was just curious about the hunting there. Judging by there Facebook page some big deer can be found there, but was also curious about other hunting: ducks, hogs, small game. I am hoping there will be some decent hunting opportunities there as I was stuck over season all year and wasn't able to hunt at all. Thanks, Justin

my best friend is stationed there for the last 14yrs and quit hunting the base because of the pain it was checking in and out. some nice bucks in the area though but they get pounded hard with how the seasons are set up. best of luck to you and thanks for your service

During duck season me and my dad go practically every morning, if you actually hunt the flooded timber/beaver swamps you can walk out of there with your limit of 3 wood ducks. There's some geese but not too many. Most duck hunters on Bragg just hunt the big water like Mott lake, but that definitely is where woodies like to hang out. Every now and than we'll see some hooded mergansers, buffleheads, and this year we even killed a few mallards. Coyote hunting is amazing. There's so many there because a while back they introduced yotes to the area and now they're just running rampid. Deer hunting is pretty good too as long as you stay away from the DZ's. Most deer hunters don't stray too far from holland DZ and Sicily DZ. Turkey hunting can be good if you hunt where a DZ backs up to a swamp. Back in the day Fort Bragg used to be world renowned for quail hunting. But because of all the predators and the way they burn in the spring it's hard to find a cubby. The cubbies we have found though are big ones of 10-20. Mainly if you just stay away from the big water and the big DZ's that everyone hunts you're bound to get on something. I hope this helps! Thanks again for your service!

I was stationed at Pope from 03-07 and hunted Bragg alot. There are some good areas and some good deer if you put in your time and hunt it.Find the food and your good to go. I had a favorite little spot that had two nice persimmon trees on it. Never saw another person hunt that area the whole time I was there.

Thanks for the responses, its good to hear that there is at least some good hunting there if I work for it which I don't mind. I've been hearing a lot that its a pain with all the rules but I guess that will just have to be what I do, since I don't have a lot of options. Looks like there is some state land not far that has good pig hunting too which I really want to try.

Yeppers ! I do 99.9% of my hunting on Bragg & Mackall and of that I do most on MacKall , just because they don't allow alot of firearms hunting due to all the special forces training ..
