Avalon Tec One Sight Block mounting issue

Got a Tec One sight to try out and I'm having an issue with the screws that mount the sight block to the riser. The allen wrench/hex key provided in the toolkit doesn't fit securely into the fitting inside the head of the screw, so it is impossible to get the screw in tight enough without feeling like I'm going to strip it, causing the whole thing to rattle loose after one shot. I wrote Alternative and they suggested using double-sided tape underneath the sight block (from the email it sounded like he thought the problem was the fitting of the screw into the riser itself, which is fine).
So my questions are:

Anyone else with a Tec One or similar "budget" sight have an issue like this and know a fix? I'm going to take the screw with me to Lowe's in a bit to try out a metric allen wrench set as I only have a standard one currently.

If I use double-sided tape as added security when mounting the sight, would the tape with foam or without foam be recommended?

Thanks all,
Seth

Haha thanks; saw that you had it and thought about pm'ing you again - I'll go to Lowe's and grab a metric one because none of my standards are working. Will update on fit and still interested in anyone's two cents on the tape question.

Double-sided tape is fine for something small and light, like a rest that's MEANT to be held on with tape. For a sight mounting block I'd make sure you have it secured with screws. I add a single layer of paper underneath my blocks to keep from scratching the riser too much and add string wax to the screws before installing them.

Yes just use the correct allen key from a set and you should be fine. I don't remember having that problem with the block (mine fits snug and has never loosened), but I've never used the supplied allen key.
Also, I don't think the tape would be a good solution. Again, I think it's just a matter of using the wrong hex size.

That's a little surprising that their recommendation was double-sided tape. The mounting holes for sights have been pretty universal for a long time. I would have thought they would have offered to send you new screws first given the apparent misunderstanding.

This falls under the category of "just because duct tape and bailing wire can fix anything, doesn't mean it should."

Well I don't think the fitment of the screws to the riser was the OP's problem. His issue was that the supplied allen key wasn't quite the right size so he couldn't torque it down tight enough if I understood correctly. Like I said I have the same sight and it's tight and in place. No complaints so far!
