Been using a Bass Pro cheapo for last 4 years, ran about $19. I've got some issues here & there with it. Looking to upgrade. Badlands Pursuit has what I'm looking for, but what makes them so special? They really worth the money?
I suspect you may be right. I don't want to buy a new $20 pack every 4 years if a $100 pack will last me. I like the pocket configuration on the Pursuit. I don't mind dropping $100 IF IT WILL LAST. If its going to have the same longevity as an El Cheapo, I may just keep looking. The Tenzings look really nice but I didn't see one that would work for the way I use one. Primarily my pack is integrated into my climber. Then it's hung on the back side of the tree from where I'm positioned. My access is mostly via the side pockets and mesh pockets. The pursuit has large side pockets and taller mesh side pockets. I like the bow carrying strap. Looks easy to strap my quiver to as well. The way you asked the question is kinda subjective...i have a Superday and need/like it. I dont use it to hunt in my back yard. If you have been getting by for any amount of time with a little $19 backpack then unless what you are carring has changed {to something heavier} then probably no, an expensive Badlands is not worth the extra money. Kind of like with tents...if you are camping in the Appalachian mountains in May then a Wal-Mart special is gonna do it. But if you are going to Mt. McKinley you probably need/want something that will stand up to alot more. Generally with a backpack it is a matter of how comfortable you can carry whatever it is that you need to carry as well as for how long. Bottomline...they are very nice backpacks and you will not regret owning one but if you really dont need that much backpack you might regret spending the money.
