I know lithium batteries are the best and I use them in my cameras, but wanting a cheaper alternative for a few of them. So what brand of alkaline batteries are you guys using that works best and lasts the longest for you?

I've had the best luck with rayovacs..a lot less failure rates on them compared to Energizer or Duracell.

Eneloop pro or Immedion rechargeable batteries are what I use. I’d recommend a smart charger that will charge each one individually. A larger investment up front, but I’ve been using the same two sets for over five years with no issues even in temps under 20 degrees.
I also like the Eneloop pros and Ladda (sold at IKEA) rechargeables . I have had less issues with them than with the lithiums . They do real well in cold temps .

I have used rayovacs for years with no problems.

I had some cheap amazon batteries for the kids toys and installed them in both my Spartan cell cameras. They have been working great even in freezing cold

I have 24 cams and I have tried several different batteries brands like- Duracell ,Energizer ,Amazon ,Rayovac ,AC delco ,Panasonic and a couple no name brands ! I actually had a couple batteries from some of the no name brands leak acid in my battery trays and I had to buy new trays so I stopped using them. Seemed as through when the temps dropped the Amazon and Panasonic brands died sooner than the other brands. The Duracell, Energizer, Rayovac and the AC delco all lasted about the same and took the same amount of videos ! So the way I see it the Rayovac and the AC delco batteries are allot cheaper than the other 2 and the AC delco are about 1/2 off the others on Ebay so that is what I buy !
When you go through 192 batteries every time you swop them out it tends to get expensive so I buy them a couple hundred at a time !!

I just buy 48 packs of Energizer's or Duracells at Sam's Club. They last around 3 months or about 10,000 pics on my Browning Cams. I use Rechargeable Energizers and Duracells in my Covert Cell Cam's. I get about 2 months out of the rechargeables in my cell cam.

I've been using the Dollar General Home and Energizer Max batteries for 2-3 month stints for a few years in 2 cams. 3 and 4 shot burst pic only mode with an average of 250-450 pics taken by a each cam in a week.
"Placed" on November 4th...a Moultrie990i still had 46% battery life and a Bushnell HD had 2 of 3 bars left when I pulled them both on January 15th.

There is a little more to what Batteries one uses... If where you use your Cams stays above 32 Degrees great when I have used most other Bats than E Lithiums these other batteries does not matter duracell, alkaline energizer, rayovac, etc once the temp drops below 30 my cams stopped working with in 3 days maybe did not matter if it was a moultrie, browning, covert, or stealth! ASs temps can effect how long batteries will last I am in Michigan and once I switched to lithium's my cams last from December till June in video mode. Now Ihave added the Browning Solar Power Pack and the Stealth Solar Pak but when snow and ice cover the solar panel that ends the charging and that happen in December when we got 10 inches or snow / ice. So I do not see a magic Battery even rechargeables have more as to dealing with them taking them home charging and bring them back means you need at least 2 sets per cam plus how many cams does one use I run 12 so that means charging many and keeping them all straight was not for me when I tried rechargeables. Once I found E-Lithiums now 22.00 for an 18 pak I am good using them but again use what works For YOU. Each has different ideas how some work better I am a video only cam user and once late September rolls in deer movement is more after dark and uses bats up quicker even with the limited 20 / 30 second videos. So again each place has it's different Battery needs. Hope these new solar Panels work out. Might save me a couple $!

Good post. We both can agree that Alkalines just don’t cut it in cold weather .. and while you prefer E lithiums for your cams I prefer quality NIMH rechargeables .. I actually use both and respect your opinion . In my homebrews I use a lot of 18650 L-ion batteries to keep the camera batteries charged and they are kind of the best of both worlds but have no use in commercial cams

My 12 Duracell standard alkalines have been out since last week of November, get anywhere between 7-10 pics per day on my Reveal, just checked my app batts reading at 95%...we've had ALL of our coldest days of the year so far while this cam was out....the cam is transmitting those pics too to my phone, so there is some power consumption with there as well....

Are cheaper alkaline batteries really a better ROI? I get way more pics with lithium’s.
If I could trust the lithium batteries, I'd buy only hem. They are the be all end all ..... when they work. The problem I've had is that I'll install them & leave the camera alone for weeks or month, only to return & find out the batteries died in a day. That's happened too may times and the intel I lose because of it is worth far more than the cost of the batteries. The last time one actually started smoking before I could even get a new memory card installed, and my camera was melted before I could get the batteries out. If you haven't had any issues with them then keep on using them. When they're good they really last and are worth the money.

The lithiums have a higher initial voltage than the rechargeables but when they start to lose voltage they drop off fast...the Eneloops drain at a much steadier rate .. An energizer lithium at 1.5v is about shot while the Eneloops at 1.25 v still will power the cameras efficiently

I ran 30 cams for the past 5 years, all on energizer lithium bought in bulk on Amazon. zero issues and in the Reconyx I was using I got a minimum of a season and a half. Crazy thing is when they were down to 5 percent or so I would change them out, for the hell of it I threw some of those batteries in a browning cam and it read 100%. And they work a long time in that cam!

Not what you asked but here’s my .02

I know there was a thread recently about some issues with lithium batteries so I’m assuming that was a bad run or something. That’s not the norm.

I used to hog hunt at night with thermal devices. My handheld used aa batteries. If I used regular aa batteries, I would go through 2 sets a night. When using lithium, one set would last two nights.

Unless you have a bad batch of lithium or a defective camera that just eats batteries, lithium batteries will always be cheaper and work better.
