If you want the brightest crossbow nock on the market, that would be the Lumenok in either flat or crescent. We offer them in our own 100% carbon Lumen-Arrow bolts 20 or 22" long. A 3 pack of bolts runs $54.95 and you can find them in many outlets all over the country. We precision square the back of each shaft prior to installing the Lumenoks wich are manufactured right here in central Illinois. We don't sell circuit boards or bobber lights, just the estential components very thoughtfully arranged to make the most light possible. We also offer Lumenoks installed in Excalibur Firebolt and now in Barnett bolts as well. Beginning in April 2012 we will be offering a new style bolt end that employs our patent pending Polymeric battery holder design that allows for easy battery replacement. These will be offered in red and green.

I haven't bought a Lumenok in about four years so I couldn't tell you how the new Lumenoks perform. I can tell you that they functioned very sporadically back four years ago. I switched to Firenocks and even though they are more expensive, for me they light virtually every time so the added expense is worth it. The replaceable batteries bring the cost down in the long run because you'll just have to buy a new battery and not replace the entire assembly.

Today all Lumenoks have replaceable batteries and batteries are included in your purchase. If you understand the simple function of the Lumenok and apply it to your arrows using sound arrow preparation regarding squareness and fit, you will have great success. It is also important that you understand that a lot of arrows are made from lesser materials than you might suspect based on what thier manufacturer tells you. Could out of square arrows or fiberglass have been at the root of your troubles? That is for you to determine. We go to great lengths to help people understand these principles, but I can only "lead a horse to water" so to speak. We also manufacture our product in the USA. We use real nocks from Bohning and Easton, not nocks designed around a light assembly. People who buy our arrows get the benefit of all that we have learned and apply for them, so they don't have to suffer the minor details or even read the instructions. just screw on a point and shoot. http://www.facebook.com/Lumenok#!/Lumenok?sk=app_151761674883920

I do know that out-of-square arrows were not the problem. I square all my arrows and inserts with the G-5 arrow squaring device.

As for the composition of the shaft itself I can't speak to that. The shafts were Gold Tip Expedition Hunters and off the top of my head I can't tell you the architecture of that specific Gold Tip product. What I can tell you is that the Lumenoks from 4 years ago did not work for me and my Gold Tips.

Installation wise just plugging a nock into the back of your arrow is convenient but even Jethro Bodine and his 6th grade education would have no problem with the Firenock's assembly instructions.

On a side note the F.A.S.T. arrow squaring device looks like a "must have" due to the fact that you can square fletched arrows as well as non-fletched ones.

I like the idea of the F.A.S.T squaring tool, I have tons of arrows that are fletched ,
Lumenock , do you ( or plan to ) make practice nocks ? ( matching weight), and, will the Lumenocks withstand up to 400 fps. at close range into strong targets ? (say 15 yds. ) Thanks

For those who like to square the arrow at BOTH ends and hate the fact most squaring tool in the market hurt your hand when use. APS let the arrow shaft rides on 2 sealed ball bearings and the screw that holds the bearings are precision brass shoulder bolts which allow ZERO tolerance. Firenock make an APS system that let you square both end of your arrow, spin it and do not hurt your hand. It also uses adhesive sand paper as grinding surface so you can change it instead of trying to clean it after use.

It is on back order since the Mathews show on December 2011. I am expecting it to be back in stock by end of February. To learn more about Firenock's APS, the following link shall show you. For those of your who wanted to know, the main parts are made in Kentucky and Indiana, right here is US. Retail for $89.95 and I am taking advance order today as I expect the last few parts to show up no later by the third week of this month and I shall be able to fill all back orders by month end! I have a few thousand on route to me ;)

this thread is great timing. 2 weeks ago i purchased 3 pack of the Horton Bone Collector arrows with the luminocks.tried the one at 20 yards into a rhino block to check zero. everything was great til i tried to re-set the nock to the off position. the nock came right out of the shaft. are they glued in? its neat and all how they come on but if they cant handle a practice shot its not too durable.

I used Lumenoks last year for the first time. I had really great success with them. Won't hunt without them and they are simple to use and to change arrows with them. GEMSBOK they are designed to be pulled out. If you pull to hard to turn them off you will pull them out. Simply push them back in. I can't speak for any other lighted nock because I never tried any other. Some of the others the price has scared me away quite frankly.

After this thread I decided to pick up a Lumenock to try, I had fletched a few 3" fusions to try , along with standard 4" strykers, and blazers , all on GT IIs, not going to bore with results, but the 2" Blazers are still tops !!!
The Lumenock performed flawlessly , I ended up shooting it again several times this evening, total shots with the Lumenock= 14.
No issues, and very simple... one concern was very close shots into the spiderweb, with the Firenock you better have the battery stop epoxied in or damage can occur, to both the Firenock and your arrow !
I shot the Lumenock at 10 yds. with no problems, they are $10 each.
The Firenock is a very nice, The Lumenock seems to be better than they used to be, and a bit less expensive.

I do like the idea of the dial indicator to find spine, to fletch the cock vane, ultimate consistency ?? Did I read that right?

Dorges, but I guess you can do it with any v-block set up, right?

I have been using the Lumenok on my Dads Xbow. The battery seems to run dead fairly fast. Any other thoughts on other lighted nocks?? I wish Nocturnal made nocks for Xbows. They are the best at lighted nocks by far.
Lumenoks are the best and the brightest! I shot a deer in the am, found the bolt when I was out for the afternoon hunt 9 hours later, still lit! And they make the videos, see exactly where the bolt hits!

Lumenocks Work well but the batteries seem to not last so long and plus harder to turn off. I like the concept of flipping an on and off switch like the ones made by Double Take Archery

If long term lighting is what you are looking for, i think our IC hunting systems will make you very happy. With a fresh BR battery, our IC EZ coil Firenock for crossbow will lit for 6 weeks at room temperature and lit for about 1 year at -3F. As for brightness, how does initial brightness of 3600 LUX sound, or visible up to 2 miles in total darkness; 120 yard under cloudless day in Illinois summer noon sound? Not to mention with our BR battery, your Firenock will function as low as -17F. All these come at a price, and last time I check, a fully equipped Firenock is about 200+% the price of the others at initial purchase. We also offer 3 different batteries for different abilities too, temperature tolerance, duration, shelf life, brightness, etc. Hope this helps.
