Does anyone know if the black Eagle chart accounts for the halfserts that add point weight or should I count them plus field point when selecting spine

I was looking at their arrows today, and my assumption was that the charts allowed for the halfserts/inserts/etc that came with the arrows plus a 100 grain tip. It appears my opinion may differ from the others, so I may need to reconsider this.

Edited to remove inaccurate information. Black Eagle doesn’t not have different spine charts for different arrows…one chart covers all arrows. I apologize for giving bad information. I guess I didn’t look at the charts very closely the other day.

Good question, the chart itself states it's based on a 100 grain point, I would assume with the standard insert. While I'm not certain, the varying spines for different arrows could be due to differences in arrow size/diameter, ie: a 350 spine small diameter maybe able to handle a wider range of draw lengths and weights than a standard size shaft.

I called Black Eagle. They said that the spine chart allows for the standard insert/outsert that comes with the arrow. Just use the chart considering the weight of the broad head or field tip.

Also, I was wrong in my earlier response. They only have one spine chart. I don’t know what I saw that made me think differently, but it’s not there today, and they confirmed this over the phone. Sorry for giving bad info.

Sounds more like an easy answer to make their simplistic spine chart work for the lay person. So...according to their logic. You should worry about a 25 grain difference in point weight, but not the 46 grain difference in the inserts/outserts that vary from arrow to arrow type ? So a Carnivore with a 14 grain insert and 100 grain point, 115 grains on the end, is the same as a Rampage with a 52 grain insert and 100 grains point, 152 grains on the end?

You mean you can order a Zombie Slayer, put the 100 grain brass or 42 grain vintage brass insert in it, instead of the 14 grain standard, and disregard the difference, just worry about the point?

I think BE is blowing a little smoke here. They have always had the most simple of charts, with few notes about how to add or subtract for variances. Think they just want to keep it simple stupid, and in most cases its alright. But the overall claim to disregard the total tip weight is a little wishy washy. I am not a big you have to have the perfect spine guy. But this is a little ( we do not want to publish all the extra stuff or an actual calculator like Victory arrows ) smell to it.
