Completely confused on how to set this thing up....and another, bigger problem...

When I head out tomorrow to figure out which sight tape to use, I know I have to shoot at 20, make a mark and then at 60 to make a mark. How the hell do I shoot reliably at 60 when I'm a new shooter and suck....at 60? I have a chrono and Labradar, but I've read that the fps are often way off. Do I find a buddy who can actually shoot?

Also, if someone wants to fact check me...I'm probably overthinking. I have the 3 pin and will be setting them up for 20/30/40.

1. Crank the adjuster all the way up.
2. Loosen and put the top pin near the middle of the housing.
3. Sight in my 20yd pin by adjusting the housing, not the pin itself.
4. Sight in my 30 and 40 by adjusting the pins themselves.
5. Make a mark where the top indicator is...which should be at 20yds.
6. Using the top pin again, adjust the dial until the top pin is sighted at 60yds...make another mark.
7. Using a caliper or just holding the tapes up to the marks, find which tape matches the 20 and 60 marks and that's the tape to use.
8. Turn the dial back to the starting position (all the way up) and install the tape with the 20yd mark at the top indicator.
9. Since my bottom pin is sighted at 40, loosen the bottom indicator screw and slide it until it lines up with the 40yd mark on the tape.

Now, when I turn the dial, my top pin is mated up to the top indicator and my bottom pin is mated up to the bottom indicator.

Does that make sense or am I way the F off....

Good Luck, I asked on here as I had the same questions and watched several videos saying how to do it the opposite of each other.

Went to the range and had my phone on one video, already had 20-30-40 centered but how was I to get a 60, video said to slide the whole site down , then measure between the 20-60 pins, but I moved all the pins when I moved the whole site down, so I gave up for now,

after thinking and watching other videos I think I need to buy another pointer for the longer distances

Just leave it as a 3 pin until you’re comfortable shooting that distance.

But when you’re ready, shoot in your 20/30/40. Roll your site down a little and shoot until you’re on at 50 and mark. If you’re tired quit for the day.

Tomorrow shoot some at 20. A couple @ 50 and then straight to 60. Repeat for 70 and you should have your tape.

I cut the tops of my tapes off so they start at 40.

You’ll likely find that the further you go your
Left and right may need adjusting. 1” at 20 can be a complete miss @ 70.

Running a .10 pin on the bottom helps a lot but ultimately it’s just gonna
Take practice. I shot the same sight all year last year without even bothering to pick a tape so don’t pressure yourself to do it until you’re a good
Enough shot to do it right. Good luck!

Step 1. Sight in pins.

Step 2. Walk back time with the indicator. Put a blank tape on. Mark your 20. Then 25 if you need too. 30, 40. As far back as you are comfy. 40 is fine.

Step 3. Match your tape marks with the tapes you have. Take your time. Get it as perfect as you can.

Step 4. Put tape on. Double check pins and verify before you move anything.

Step 5. Move the indicator to the distance of your bottom pin. This is where most people make a mistake. Your bottom pin will be your slider. So you have 20, 30, 40,. Move your indicator to 40. NOT the wheel.

Step 6. Move wheel to 45 yards. Shoot bow. How'd it do? Check your other tape marks. 50. 60 if you get brave. Remember the bottom pin is your slider. And don't forget to move your wheel back to the top before you shoot your pins or you'll put one in the pawnky toolies. I think I explained it right

You can also try matching the tape to your pin gaps. I like doing the blank because you can do closer increments.

Thanks Wicked...... That's how I understand it. Since my 3 pins will be 20/30/40, I'll have the top pin and top indicator at 20 on the tape (will also allow the top pin to be my top slider with my top indicator). Then move the bottom INDICATOR needle (not wheel) to 40...as my 40 pin will be my bottom slider.

As above, going to concentrate on becoming more proficient at the pin ranges for now. I'm able to shoot 23 and 30 at the shop at work. I shot 60 arrows yesterday at those ranges working on basics and fundamentals.
