Bowtech SS-34 vs RevoltX

I tried a Bowtech Solution SS for the smooth/easy draw cycle. I did like the draw cycle but the 30" ATA was too short for me at 30" draw length. So I switched to a RevoltX based on my bow techs recommendation for a smooth/easy draw and longer ATA and like it better. I talked with a Bowtech customer service rep who told me the cams on the SS-34 are different than the Solution SS and has an even smoother/easier draw cycle. I am considering trading my RevoltX for a SS-34 and would appreciate your opinions on these two bows and if it is worth doing so based on the extra 1" of ATA and purportedly smoother/easier draw cycle. Please let me know your thoughts.

I loved my revoltX and it’s one of those bows I wish I didn’t sell. Do I need a new bow no I am very happy with my v3x but I am trying real hard not to go shoot a Mach 34 or ss34.

I am selling my Hoyt Ventun Pro 33 to get an SS34. Ordered one in all black, 60 pound. Looking forward to having an effortless draw cycle.

Great choice
At a 30 inch draw I'd take the SS all day. My only hesitation is the Mach 34 is so good.
The SS34 is th smoothest easiest to tune bow on the market bar none

Me and my hunting buddy have been discussing the SS34. I'll wait another year to see if they'll encorporate the same tuning technology as their R36/39 cams. Brilliant idea. In other threads I've also mentioned being a buyer of the Mach 34 from PSE. "The One" didn't tickle my desire to own my first carbon bow. I'll gladly wait for the same cam offerings to adorn BTs hunting rigs. Until then I'll still shoot my red headed step children with archaic technology ;)

I own a Revolt but kind of wish I'd gotten a Revolt X. Bowtech should've never gotten rid of the Revolt X, but they have to change things in order to get continued revenue.

The whole "this thing is smoother with less hand shock/noise" when it comes to Bowtechs in comfort mode is kind of ridiculous to me. All of them in comfort are so nice to shoot that it becomes a matter of "smooth as teflon ball bearing" vs "smooth as a teflon ball bearing that has been waxed and then dipped in oil"......no one needs more smooth than a teflon ball bearing.

Interesting- I've thought about this same thing too. I just sold a Revolt and Revolt X. I hunted with 2 realm X's last year and loved them. Realm X was my favorite hunting bow ever. The Revolt X never did it for me. I have no idea why as spec-wise it's so similar to the Realm X. I'd for sure shoot the SS34 and will likely have one in 6 months when they hit the classifieds. I recently purchased a BT mag and shot it side by side with my Revolt X. BT mag (2017 model) is quieter, less vibration, and is more stable for me than the Revolt X. I'm a sucker for 33-36 inch smooth shooters so I picked up a Vista 33 and see how it compares.

Owned the RevoltX, shot the SS34.
Speed goes to Rx if both in performance.
Draw cycle goes to the SS34 on either setting.
The SS34 is a touch quieter (just from memory)
Both Hold and Aim very well, hard to tell with out them side by side, so equal.
Fwiw I’d shoot the the SS34 in performance and wouldn’t even bother with comfort. Cycle is just as smooth on performance as the Rx is on comfort.

I guess the easier way to say it, and this is just me, if I still had my RevoltX I wouldn’t sell it to buy an SS34. If wanted a sweetheart draw cycle the SS34 hands down. If I wanted a more speed and still wanted the effortless draw, SX80 on comfort.

Haven’t shot SS34 but zero chance I’d trade in my Revolt X for one. Granted I’m a shorter DL than some here so the 34 is not a positive vs the 33. But giving up performance makes no sense to me when the draw cycle is already silly east on the Revolt X. I mean I can’t imagine who could possibly need an easier draw cycle much less on that kind of an upgrade in attempt to get one.

I don't think there's a big enough difference between the two to justify trading the RX for the SS34.
I agree will you both. I wouldn’t either. But if you didn’t own an Rx or couldn’t find one, the SS34 does do a few thing better than the Rx but not well enough to off load just to buy the SS34. The dump on the Rx in perf sucks imo, the SS34 is quite nice. You do gain about 5” of riser length, 1/4” bh Dovetail if you are QAD fan and a much more linier draw cycle with the SS34. The only down side is performance to performance speed difference. However very few shoot bows in performance anyways including the RevoltX but Id wager most will shoot the SS34 in performance after they try it, so speed becomes a moot point. Again worth the hassle of selling just to turn around and buy a similar bow, no. Worth giving the SS34 a solid look if you are in the market, absolutely. But like I said don’t even bother with comfort, unless you shoot the Sx80. Otherwise hold off until the Griplock and Timelock make it to the hunting line.

I don't think there's a big enough difference between the two to justify trading the RX for the SS34. It might just be my shop's bow, but the finish on the SS34 wasn't good. It came straight out of the box and I helped him set it up to test shoot. There was a chip on the corner of the Clutch grip, what looked like a paint dribble or something caught beneath the paint near the same location, and the riser cuts and paint finish on the rest of the bow just did not seem well done. My RevoltX had none of those finish issues.

Maybe the shop had a rough one for a demo bow, but if that's how the SS34s are going to look, I would be very disappointed if I received a new one that looked like that.

You could just buy 5 or 6 of the bows you are interested in and keep them all. I know guys who have 50 guns. Actually the worst part of owning several bows is just keeping up with the strings for them and outfitting the accessories. And then actually finding time to shoot them all.

When you measure the overall outside dimensions including the cams, today's short bows are not really as short as they would be with the old tiny wheels we use to have. You get to looking at these cams closely, you can begin to see which ones are going to draw nice, the overall geometry tells the tale in large part.

I just won't let myself shoot a new one if I decide I need to go through withdrawals because my addiction is getting to bad. I just go into rehab, and try to stay out of the pro shop more. If I go in I try not to stare or look at the bows, definitely don't touch. And don't let them talk me in to going for a test ride and telling me about all the great new engineering and benefits.

I would hold on to the Revolt-X if it were me, not saying don't get the SS34 also, lol
The Revolt-X is a sweet shooting bow, I don't think I will get rid of mine.
I have no issues with it in performance, doesn't bother me at all.

All good info. Revolt X was my top choice when I was looking for a used bow a year and a half ago, but ended up getting a good deal on a 60 pound SR6. The draw in performance at 62 pounds and 29" is great for me (with Lucky Stops added). If it didn't shoot so well I'd be looking at a Revolt X or SS34 in 70 pounds.

I haven't heard much about the SX80 yet.

If it helps when I shot the SS34 I measured the over all length and riser length.
39.5 COAL
32” riser at the pivot.
The cam on the SS is larger and more oval than the Rx cam. This combined with an extra 1” ATA it isn’t as compact as the Rx. It’s actually 1” longer, over all, than the V3x33.
On the shot, the Rx, although not quite as drastic, mimics a target bows forward jump do to the more vertical limbs, the SS34 feels very true its parallel design where as you feel more of outward movement, very reminiscent of the E35.

I wish bowtech were like PSE and you could get different cams on different models.
I would love to try a SS34 with solution SD cams, since my draw length is only 27.5".

I got a Mach 34 with S2 cams and it is 11 fps faster than my Revolt-X with the same arrow in performance.
That cam is really efficient at my draw length, and feels very similar to my Revolt-X in performance.
