As with most products sold at walmart, its a cheaper made version of a real product.

What wal-mart does is contacts somebody with interest in selling their products but they only offer to buy x amount for x price. Some companies have a mark up great enough they can eat it and give them the real deal at a large order and still make money. Some companies will produce a similar product with cheaper components or some other price cutting measure to make the deal.

HP computers are one that does this. The same model from another store (purely example) HP 300 will have name brand parts in it. The wal-mart version will be called a HP 300 W and have cheaper no name parts. You might think you are getting a $500 computer for only $300 but in the real world you are getting a $300 computer for $300 that was based in design on a $500 one. The warranty of the 2 products might also be completely different.

Check the actual model and serial numbers on the products. Most will have some minor difference that gives them away as being "special" in some sort of way as the real product. In your case it seems to be pretty clear with a model name change.

I guess I'm a sucker - I bought one today and put it out so I'll let you guys know how it does. Set it up in the yard and took some 3 image shots and the pics were very impressive. If it takes decent pics and the batteries hold up I'll be sold. It takes 8 AA batteries just like the TC so maybe it is last years TC which got better reviews than this years.
