A buddy of mine was bored one afternoon and built me a broadhead to try. While certainly not a new concept in design, it's a very simple yet rugged head.
It is all steel and the blade is 15N20 steel (high grade steel) that is notched, and then press fit and then pinned through the slotted ferrule. Here are the dimensions:
Cut: 1 3/8"
Length: 1 1/2"
Blade Thickness 0.065"
Weight: 175gr
I stuck in on a Harvest Time HT2 .400 and shot if from my 60lb Admiral....shot like a dart out to 40 yards (as far as I tried) and has a great FOC. I was very impressed and asked him for a few more when he gets a chance.
Definately going to give it a try on spring black bear just for kicks....should leave a good hole!
Please excuse the tooling and file marks, it was a quick prototype, and the next ones will be a little prettier (he's built himself a 1.5" cut 250gr head for his long bow)!
I named this the Carnivore.....Let It Eat!
