Center Shot on a Switchback XT question

I'm setting up my ripcord on my Mathews Switchback XT and I want to get it centered perfectly. In reading the 2005 Mathews manual it says to get a center shot they recommend measuring off the side of the riser at the rest attachment hole to the center of the arrow shaft approx 3/16''. I'm very confused the center of the arrow shaft cannot be only 3/16'' from the riser, the fletching would hit everytime right? Can someone clear this up for me.
