Cracked corn will work but everything else will visit your feed sight to include about 1000 black birds which sucks. They can put a hurting on cracked corn fast and the turkeys too. Cracked corn will also mildew and turn rancid much faster than whole corn if you live in a high humidity or snowy environment. I dont use cracked here in Florida because it rots too fast and stops up the gravity feeders with all the dust and small pieces that get wet and clump up.

This thread explains why I see deer in the woods with lighters.

Just dropped alotta money on feed and blocks. The feed store ran out of whole corn so i bought cracked. the guy at the checkout said deer prefer whole. looks like it would spread better and make the deer work to find the pieces. I had them go through 50lbs in 24 hours! Any difference in its attractiveness? Just wanted to see if i wasted my money or not. thanks in advance!
Cracked corn is best for the deer whole kernels could actually kill the deer if a bunch is in front of them

thanks for bringing up a 12 year old dead thread
🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️ Happens every day.....new folks don't look at the original date of the thread or even the last post. Just jump in and bring a zombie back to "life".

It’s happening more and more every day, most of these “newbies” chime in and never post again. Not sure if these are bots, but why would all these new posters go through the trouble to register to a site and post 1 comment, never to return. Seems odd.

I think allot of guys search google, and these old threads pop up in the results. They make an account quick to chime in but never bother to look at the date. There's certain websites that have a warning up saying it's an dead thread before you can post

I don’t know about all of that but I think it's good that old threads come up from time to time with new input.

I supplement feed for deer and pheasants using whole corn.

Both seem to prefer it over cracked.

Plus with cracked you get so much tiny and powder in each bag.

And as said, every small bird, and rodent will be on the cracked corn.

The pheasants just don't really like it.

Not only did he bring back a 12 year old thread, his reply is completely wrong as if he has no idea what he’s even talking about.
That comment worried me because I have been putting out whole corn until today. Im new ro feeding wildlife, so are both whole and cracked corn safe for deer and wildlife? If a bunch of crows show up, as someone else mentioned, Im going to have a lot of explaining to do lol
