Wondering what everyone is using for d loop material. I've been looking at BCY D braid and BCY 24. What are the pros and cons of both? I'm shooting a stans shootoff handheld and have heard a softer material is best to allow for twist. Any info would be great thanks

Hello
I don't use D loop as you know it. I bought mine from Dew Boy
I have tested his material for 2 months now .On one bow the D loop is now 2 months old.
Just great material. And yes I have BCY won't be looking back [ Later

So far after having tried Brownells LC, Bcy D braid and Bcy #24, I am liking Bcy #23 the best. It is a small diameter material
that doesn't stretch, wears like iron and has just the right amount of stiffness, but i would only recommend it for hook type
releases. if you use a caliper I would opt for something bigger like Bcy #24.

D-braid is small, ties nice tight knots, very flexible which I like. It will stretch allowing you to fine tune your dloop length and melts nicely. #23 is same size but does not stretch so you better get the length right the first time. I also do not like how it melts. It does not ball up nicely like D braid or #24. It melts like Halo.

.......Any hints to get the better and a little bigger ball?
The key is to fray the end, and use just enough heat to get it to melt.

Not enough fray and/or too much heat = small useless ball.

I used Gibbs which is pretty stiff, but really no issues and I keep some on hand for those who want camo (green or brown). I mainly use BCY 24 and no issues. If the d-loop is of proper length torque of d-loop does not effect the shot or accuracy. As for releases, I have single caliper and dual caliper index releases, hook type thumb and hinges and closed jaw thumb releases. I just don't have any problems. Heard complaints of the BCY 23 so I stayed with BCY 24.

If you're wondering what the difference is between The BCY cord, I'm not an expert on their material, but according to the info I've seen, BCY #23 is 1.6mm cord that is "covered" wtih SPECTRA.

"Spectra fiber is one of the world's strongest and lightest fibers. A bright white polyethylene, it is, pound-for-pound, ten times stronger than steel, more durable than polyester and has a specific strength that is 40 percent greater than aramid fiber.

So I guess #23 would be the most durable if the above is true. BCY's Description of #23 states "Spectra covered, highly durable". I can't tell you exactly what Spectra "covered" means as far as how it is covered and how much spectra is used.

Their D Braid is also 1.6mm braided Polyester.

Their #24 is 2.0mm braided Polyester, so it's a bit larger and stiffer than Their #23 or D Braid.

I believe their D Braid is pretty much the same as 1.6mm Mini-Blind Cord. I haven't tried the 1.6mm Mini-Blind cord, but the 1.8mm is just right for my taste.

Thank you Dewboy for all the information. Do you have a recommended source on the mini-blind cord? You should start your own cottage business with the knowledge you have acquired on this topic and phase of archery.
