dogs and turkeys can hear higher frequencies than we can. deer can see some uV. Can they see infrared in the wavelength on our cameras flashes? Has anyone seen any research about this one way or the other? Thoughts?

i have no scientific research to back it up, but it seems many deer that are on my trail cam with nite vision are looking right at it. seems like they can sense something. my cam is silent too.

your hearing is not as good as a deer.
High frequency elecrt magnetic wave we cannot hear ...they can.
Ever walked into your house and you didn't hear anything but felt like there was a Tv turned on somewhere?
Thats what they hear/feel but at a much higher level than us.
Deer are not pit vipers....they do not see in heat signature/ infrared. they see UV level different than us though.

so say they can hear the infared ring , would the high pitched ringing scare them off more than a millasecond flash? just something to think about, ive got 6 n 7 yr old 9 pts comin into spots that i have my moultrie on, it flashes like crazy n they keep on comin back like its not even there

all infared cameras glow red when they take a picture, they might see that out of the "corner" (280deg. vision) of their eye, and turn to investigate.
Ya, half to back you up on that one. Mine does it to (red glow), I've walked in front of it and seen it, and the deer do look at it a lot.

Im a second year wildlife bilogist student here at NDSU and from what i have understood, which sometimes isnt much, is that deer cannot see infared. They cant sense electromagnetic radiation (infared light). The wavelength is longer than light, and sometimes deer even stuggle seeing bright lights..i think when deer are looking at the cameras its just the camera making noise that catches the deers attention, so they seem to look like "what the hecks goin" on, most game cameras have a pretty slow shutter speed, i think.

And its a proven fact that deer cant hear much better than humans (in all reality), its just that they have 4X as much surface area in the outer ear as humans so they can catch just that much more stuff.
