Difference between Hoyt Protec, Hoyt Montega, and Reflex Caribou

Hi, I started shooting/hunting with bows about 22 years ago with the older generation of compounds that had longer axle to axle lengths and energy wheels. I started off shooting with fingers and I did so until about 6 years ago when a proshop owner in Mankato talked me into trying a release. The release setups have done well for the last few years but now I am thinking of "returning to my roots" and going back to shooting with fingers. I have narrowed my decision to a Hoyt Protec (I can find some new ones left in this area), a Hoyt Montega (the successor to the Protec?), the Mathews Ovation (if I can find a new one anymore in this area), and the Reflex Caribou. My question relates directly to the Hoyt bows as opposed to the Reflex bow. From what I see they have the same warranty, the same style machined aluminum riser, the same cams, and the same laminated limbs. The Hoyts cost more and I am wondering if there is some appreciable difference outside of the limb pockets that I am missing? Does anyone know of anything, limb pockets excluded, that I would want to know about before considering one or the other? Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Over the last couple of years Reflex has made some changes mostly on their cams they have gone to the can.5 made out of alum. not the hard plastics that they used in years past (never had a problem with the plastic0.
Other differences are the riser and the cut outs but that is a trade mark of a Reflex. Reflex for target colors used to use a powder coat or dipped finish All in all they are fine bow. They are part of the Hoyt family so they have the same warranty. Graphics and limb colors are slightly different

I seem to be a bit of a Hoyt Protec finger shooter. The last time I looked at a Caribou, the cams only adjusted to the inch vs. the half inch on the Protec. I'm not very fond of camo bows but Hoyt does put an extra clear finish on their camo that seems to last longer. I like the Protec in Safari color as an alternative to camo for hunting. The Caribou is only available in camo and it at least did only come with wheels though that may have changed. I prefer to shoot Cam 1/2 on my Protecs. I haven't seen or shot a Montega yet but they're only available in camo or target colors, not Safari  . I have a Mathews Ovation and for whatever reason am not able to shoot it very well. It's a great bow and it's probably only me. I even put a Loesch medium grip on the thing. I wound up giving it to my son for a hunting bow. These are my humble observations and opinions and it's really best to shoot before you buy but that's difficult to do.

My current favorite finger setup is a Safari Hoyt Protec with XT4000 limbs, Cam 1/2, Hoyt hi-wrist grip (really a medium grip) and pre-stretched string and cables. I'm shooting Winner's Choice strings but understand there are several others available.

I've been comparing the Montega and the Caribou myself for a possible spot shooter. The real difference, mechanically, you already noticed.....the pockets. No biggie to me. The only other differences are the Reflex has a little less machine work in the riser (little ridges and stuff not on the back of the riser like the Montega) and I believe the Montega can be had with the Cam.5 or Wheel.5 where the Caribou only has the Wheel.5 option. The Reflexes target colors are anodized, but not as many options as Hoyt.....just black, red and blue.
