Do you need a camo back pack? or just green/ brown colors

For stalking style hunting out west deer, elk, moose, etc. do you think a camo pack makes a big difference? Is it needed or can I use a green/ brown pack? I hope to have the pack on the ground before I shoot anyway- once I get into calling range, but you never know.

I'd surely avoid a color that scientists say the animal is especially good at seeing, like blue for a whitetail. Outside of that, I bet something that breaks up the silhouette has a little advantage, but I wouldn't pay more for a camo version of the pack I like if it comes in an otherwise acceptable color.

I'm not doubting you one bit, I know it happens.

But it reminded me of a buddy years ago. He woke up to a fresh covering of snow, so threw on snow camo coveralls and headed for the woods. But it was one of those late fall, early winter days where the weather hasn't quite "committed" itself yet.

He said as soon as the sun broke over the ridge, all the snow was melted and gone in about 30 minutes. He said he toughed it out as long as he could, but finally gave up.

He said "Talk about feeling like you're standing out like a turd in a punchbowl". :eek2:

We laughed about it for years, usually around the first snow of the season!

azscorpion is your best advice on camo and the pack.
If anything else. Head net or one of the new face shields everyone fishes in now. A lot of jokers run around in the woods with a pasty face reflecting the light in the latest and greatest $1,000 "hunting outfit" matching their bow, pack, wriststrap......you get it.
Imagine a bright lollipop just hovering under a camo stick.......roll the cameras for a deer hunting horror show. "The hovering head that chased me".

Hugely overlooked.

So any color backpack, whatever makes you happy and a $10 face shield....
