in the front there's a loop to attach a prusik and carabiner to. Life lines are really the way to go. Climbing up and down are when you are most likely to fall.
Absolutely not. It is lighter, and easier to put on. Most accidents happen while climbing into or out of the stand while facing the tree. The rope in front makes it much easier to grab the rope and climb back.
Do a search on here. There are several threads on here with pics explaining how they work.
I've had a seat o pants, hss ultralight, and muddy in the past. Like I said, I don't see myself switching back.
Much lighter, more comfortable and safer IMO.
I used to just not wear a harness because of how uncomfortable they were until I bought my Muddy harness. It is so light and small, I constantly tell myself there is NO reason I shouldn't wear something that can save my life and ability to hunt when it is so comfortable and light that I can't tell it's there. I'll never go back. If you get one, trust me, you'll love it.
Spider micro harness with the spider decent system. Harness is super easy to put on and adjust. Took 5 minutes to adjust first time, and it's profile is slim enough you can wear it under clothes.
I agree that the Tree Spider product is light, comfortable, great protection, BUT....... It's expensive.
Here is the lower priced alternative: the Big Game Treestand Diamondback Platinum. Then I got a good deal on ebay for a Tree Spider "Livewire" descent system. Combined, it's great piece of mind especially hunting solo.
I bought the Spider Web harness. Very easy and light. I was looking at a rock climbing harness but after reading several threads it seems there was to much bickering about what to use and how to set them up. Most modern harnesses are easy to use. I throw those cheap ones that come with stands in the trash.
Just last night went to REI and bought another Alpine Bod rock climbing harness. My son grew out of his from last year and has been in mine this year. So I needed another. Was surprised they went up to $40. Best harness ever. Cheap, easy, and I'll use it. All the rest just got frustrating. If you can find an REI store near you try it out. They will let you fit it and will answer anything you have to throw at them. You can hang in them while at the store to see how to fit it. When you walk out, you will beel more comfortable than you ever have about a fall. I pair this with the HSS or Muddy lifeline on our hangons so we are connected from ground up and back. It's the only way I will let my son hunt from a hangon. Climbers and ladders I use a HSS rope style and hook it when up.
If you ever end up hanging by a harness having the rope and knot in front of you is much easier than a few feet over your back. With just a prusik you can slide yourself down the rope if you need to.
