If you have an interest in using smaller than standard diameter arrows. Which standard measure .245 ID and typically .295 to .300 or so outside, depending on the exact arrow and spine.
Then do it more for the interest of it. I shoot every size, in some situations the smaller arrows have a slight advantage. But....The standard arrow and insert has a lot going for it.
But, to me the fun and games and trying things is half the fun.
But if I would have been forced to never shoot anything but standard. It would not have made a lot of difference. You can vary the shaft weights, insert weights, fletch, nock. And the standard insert is fool proof. You can use an insert that weighs as little as 12.5 grains, or as much as 100. It matches the standard 5/16 broadhead and point. The insert offers protection to the shaft end, while being impossible to just bend it a little like some outserts. And every thing is cheaper. These .245 ID carbon arrows are small diameter compared to the aluminium we use to shoot. They where micro arrows in comparison when it all started.
And don't overlook the Sonic arrow, the 6mm arrows are smaller and still use the standard insert, that was the buzz about them. The brass 50/75 breakoff insert for them is the berries.
