It looks legit to me. The guy has a pretty good seller score. I would read them. Ask him some Q's and see what reponses you get. It doesn't really say he will sell it at $500 though.
Never mind!! There isn't a PayPal option to buy. I wouldn't go there!!
I did email him and he responded quickly. What makes me nervous is that there is no buyer protection on this and he only accepts check or money order. Wonder if this is a stolen ebay identity? Why wouldn't this go as an auction? It could easily bring in an extra few hundred bucks. I really want one of these bows but I won't try for this one. Rather find someone here selling first.
I do not see a Buy it Now, so I do not believe he is going to be able to end that auction until the time is done regardless of what his description says. I would report it to eBay for clarification.
anything over 10 buck are so but that a trick to make them look better he can spend 300 buck and make his feed back look good and then he will get all of his money back on one scam
It's a scam, he has a different pic selection this time, but his format is the same. I would almost bet you can find the same pics in someelse's listing :darkbeer:
How does one report suspicious activity like this to ebay? Technically, the lister has done nothing wrong. Does ebay look into these things just because they seem fishy or does someone actually have to lose money first? Thanks for the feedback on this topic - glad I didn't bite on the bow.
email him and ask what his address is (tell him you live in the same town), and if its possible to see it prior to bidding and if you happen to win can you pick it up in person. You should pretty much know if its a scam by his reply. Good luck.
I was referring to his email address, because it seems he is trying to appear as something he is not. Why would someone have an email address like bowtech_company?
I have sold on ebay as a store, I have had my account stollen, its a pain in the you know what. I can tell you this I never buy or sell outside thier site/ I always accepted paypal. I closed my store and did not pay attention to it for a month and decided I wanted to buy somethin and found out it was takin. The persons who scammed many with my good reputation:
Only accepted wire transfers or cash
Sold high end stuff
now looking back this account was a seller account but mainly sold dishes
I would not buy from them just due to the change in his selling habits his other auctions accepted PayPal
To report this item go to thier safe harbor it will lead you to the right spot to report it
You can contact ebay via their security address and they will verify the listing within 24 hours. I almost bought a TravelTrailer for a hunting cabin....Guy said he was here local and his wife was going to handle the transaction because he was out of town on buissness.....He wanted Western Union only..
Luckily I contacted ebay security via email and they replied the next day that the item had already been sold 2 days prior and was not listed on their site...I actually called the guys cell # and tried to call his bluff. He stuck to his guns and He even said he would contact EBay himself..After about 1 hour I got an official looking Ebay email saying this seller was legit and go ahead a send Western Union..
I again contacted ebay and they verified the transaction was closed and this was a ripoff. So I would never buy anything unless you had buyers protection or atleast ebay verified it was an actual listing on there site..
If you click on his other items for sale link he has a number of other bows with bids all one dollar from his buy it now offer. He is using different email addresses in each add.
I agree, 2 weeks back there was a Drenalin for sale too. The sellers email was mathews__company.something or other. All worded the same way except different bow.
If you buy from ebay I would check feedback, and I mean look at thier other items sold to see if there is a big change in thier selling habits (i.e. if they always use to take PayPal thier location has changed thier product changed) though people do sell personal items and items for friends if they are not a huge ebay store, and some people do not take paypal on bigger items but thier location match and thier selling style is still the same.
Just some food for thought so maybe one person may not be scammed
scam for sure, look at all the other bow packages from the same seller with the same kind of low price/email me/buy it now/ not paypal or buyer protection option but with different email addresses. i mean i use ebay all the time and i really hate to call some one out like this but i really think theyre up to no good.
