Well, I was going threw my bows and stumbled across my old martin cougar mag. I forgot all about this bow. I got it a few years ago, and I could never find any info out about it. It is a roller wheel bow, 15lb adjustment, lamenated wood limbs, fiberglass riser, (least what it feels like) some of the paint has been rubbed off due to being shot i guess, I only shot it 5 times in the past 3 years, gold wheels and gold limb decorations. Bow specs is, lbs 45-60, string length is 42, draw length is 32, and bow number is 43819. Bow has 'Made in the USA' all over it. Something to be proud of. Anyone have any information about the bow. I searched and asked around but couldnt anyone tell me anything about it. Here are some pics, im thinking of selling it soon. Its a nice collectable in my eyes. Only reason I bought it for was for how good it looked.

sorry for the cell phone pics, its all I got right now. I can get more if needed, im just curious if any of yall have seen this bow before.

We always referred to that as the "My Favorite Martian" bow.

It was sweet in its day.

I still have the limbs and wheels off of mine but my eccentrics didn't have the tri-draw slots and were some sort of plastic and limbs have a rough finish with flat black color before I used some paint to further camo it, obviously not the pro-series. I do have one of those risers with later limb/eccentrics on it. Draw was 29-31 not because you could set it to that, just depended on how far you drew it. LOL I think I measured the actual let off at 40-45%, I killed quite a few deer with that bow.

That was my first compound bow! '81 or '82 I believe. Mine had a metalic green riser, but the whole bow was camo painted the old school way from the shop I bought it from. Gave it to my brother 10 years ago, who then sold it to a friend of his.

I had one of those in the early 80's cept mine was rattle canned with the ever popular "Fern Camo" ... I think it was my first bow.. I never took a critter with it but it wasn't the bows fault I just couldn't hit anything...

Yep, that's the way we used to do it. I kind of miss that form of camoflauge, but I don't think I'd do it again to a modern bow.

My neighbor had me sell his and from what he told me was that it was built using left over parts and few were built.

I shot on several 3-D shoots and actually fun to shoot with the round wheels.

Im use to having 80% let off on my diamond, and when I go to shoot the mag, its like 50%. I have noticed I can hold the Magnum alot steadier then my rapture. I found that strange. Im also thinking of selling my Cougar mag. Thinking it would be a good start working toward another bowtech.

Here is a photo of my Cougar Magnum that I picked up a couple of years ago. I really like the look of the grip.

It's in pretty good condition except that I don't have the roller cable guard and there are a couple of nicks in the finish.

Terry, any chance of some close up photos sto that I could make one?

Thanks,
Allen

I love the old Martin bows, I had a mid 80's WartHog, my first compound, that was just an amazing bow at that time. I used to stack arrows in a paper plate from 70 yards, made me a few free beers going that!

Wow...a thread from the past. Perhaps one of these days, I'll clean all the camo paint from Chugga's old Cougar and expose it for the gorgeous bow it is. The wheels lean like crazy at full draw, but man was that thing quiet. He actually used it until 2004 when he bought a 97 Martin Prowler, which was also a phenomenal bow for the money.
