So I love this story, though it's better in person.
When I was around 16, only my 2nd or 3rd season, patiently waiting in my stand with my uncle in a stand behind me a ways. Finally a nice doe walks out, about 60 yards but through tough minnesota brush. I lined up the shot and squeezed the trigger (rifle hunting). She took off running. I looked at all the trees and brush in the way and thought for sure I got a miss or brush deflection. So I texted my uncle "f*** I shouldn't have shot." But my phone didnt like cursing, so it auto corrected to duck. Well theres a swampy area about 80 yards from that stand that's known to hold mallards, and he thought I shot a duck with a 308 winchester. So after about an hour I got off the stand and started to trek down to where she was. Sure enough here's a 1 foot wide trail of blood, followed it about 20 yards and there she is piled up against a tree. So I excitedly called my uncle and said I got her! His response, "dont worry about the f***ing duck and get back in your stand!"
Cheers and happy hunting!
