I currently have some Gold tip Series 22 pros which only come in the 300 spine. They are currently at 30" from the factory. Im shooting 65 lbs. I want cut them down to 27.5" and load up the front weight to soften up the spine. Does anyone know how much weight I'll need up front? Gold tip spine chart does allow you to select any more than 150 grains. I'll be using the gold tip FACT system to load up the front weight.

TIA- Jayden

If you want softer spine why not just leave them long? If weight is an issue. Probably the 2.5” you remove will not make up for the amount of weight that you will have to add to soften the spine.

And if your not shooting Broadheads on them is over spines really an issue?

I’ve been shooting them at 30” with 150 grains up front. I had my bow turned down to 58lbs for indoor but I’d like to turn it back to 65lbs to get some more speed for 3D. But gold tip recommends the 340 spine at 65 pounds. I just figured if I loaded up the tip more it would soften the spine @ 27.5”

victoryarchery.com ARROW GUIDE/OPEN SPINE CALCULATOR recommends 200 grains with a 28" shaft for a .300 spine. Go there and input your specs for a more accurate answer. I would suggest you shoot a 200 grain Cutthroat, this would be an awesome hunting arrow, especially with 3" feathers to help with your form issues..

Thanks! I went ahead and cut them down to 28” and left my point weight at 150 grains. At 65 pounds they are flying great! But I’m going to add weight in increments up to 200 and see how they shoot through paper. I feel like the extra point weight will help with glance outs when y’all the 12 ring is full too!
