I use the blue cap glue, what was the one you used. The blue cap takes about 5 min. and I move to the next vane.

 

Blue cap gorilla glue actually sets in less than minute for me. I don't like super type glues for fletching but the blue cap is good. Saunders NPV is the real deal but takes longer to set

 

Yep VA and rocky are right, the blue cap Gorilla super glue is what you want and probably intended to get. Real fast dry and holds excellent!!

 

If it's super glue, it should set very fast. I use impact resistant gorilla super glue as well and I can wait 30 seconds before switching to another vane.

I found that a thin layer of glue (just so the vane looks wet) and a clean shaft makes the bond strong and sets fast.

I use gorilla Glue and it takes 20 seconds per vane. I can shoot 5 minutes after I fletch with no problems. Maybe you are using too much glue, if big globs ooz out it will take longer to dry but still shouldn't take that long. I wipe any excess glue off with a Q tip.

 

Yes I am using the blue cap Gorilla Glue with a thin layer. I have clean shafts and do not have any bonding issues just takes forever to dry you can see its wet after a hour and when you try to move the clamp on my jig I can see its still wet. This is the 3rd bottle over the past few years. So it's not like I got a bad blend. Haha

 

Sounds like you are using more glue then needed....Grizz

 

This is what I as thinking I have been using g it for years never a problem it cures real fast.
You just need a thin layer.

 

What cleaner are you using for the shaft? I use loctite control gel and fletch one arrow in less than 30 seconds.

 

I've used a lot different glues(including the ones mentioned above) and settled on goat tuff fletching glue.

The older the glue is the longer it takes to set..... regardless of when you bought it, ditch it and go get yourself the blue cap gorilla super glue. I put one dot on the back of the vane, one on the front and two in the middle all equaly spaced and use a tooth pick to spread the glue around from back to front. I find its the perfect amount to give me a full bond with next to no squeeze out. With this method i can literally move to the next vane within 30 seconds and after an hour of being fletched you cant pull em off with pliars.

 

I use the yellow cap gorilla glue with the brush applicator. Less mess and dries fairly fast. Haven't had a vane fall off yet.

 

Old super glues take forever to setup.
You can get old glue right off the store shelf if you're unlucky.

Ya like I said I just use a dab and spread with a q-tip I can not use any less, haha. It maybe how old it is, even when bought new it may have been on the shelf for a very long time, but I do store it in the refrigerator so its always cool and in the dark. I was taught that years ago on here.

I will try a new bottle and even less glue and see what happens, I would be happy with 5 min dry time!

 

Yep, and you don't have to use a grinder to remove it.

I think that you may have some old glue. I use the Impact Tough for inserts and the Gorilla Glue Gel for my fletches and it never takes over 30 seconds for either to set up.
I keep them in the fridge and have still had some age out on me.
Something weird happened to me one time - I used the gel straight out of the fridge and it took along time to set up at first. After it got up to room temperature it was back to the normal 30 seconds per fletch so now I make sure it is warmed up prior to starting fletching.

True the blue top takes less than 5 min. but that's what I give it. I put one small drop each end and one in the middle. I use the tip to spread it out even.

 

I use Gorilla super glue gel. Apply a thin bead, and when I put the clamp on the jig, I apply a little pressure for a few seconds, to make sure the vane or feather seats good to the shaft. It only takes a short time to dry. The main thing is to not use too much glue.

 

Buy a tube of your glue and then get a bottle of Loc Tite Control Gel and tell me which one drys faster. I tried the Gorilla glue once and maybe I got the wrong kind but it was runny but it did dry fast.

And ya I have no clue what the glue is glue comment was, troll I suppose.

 

I didn't mean it like that. I meant a super glue type isthesams others. And gels that dry a little slower are the same. At least what I've found.
